“Don’t do anything strenuous.Just eat well and rest well, okay?”Nina advised from behind the screen of the tablet we were using to communicate, and Uncle Brogan, who was standing beside her in front of a snowy mountain, nodded in agreement.

I knew that they’d had to find a place with phone reception so they could speak to me over the phone, so I gave them a radiant smile full of gratitude.“Of course, I will.I miss you so much, Nina.”

“Moon Goddess, I miss you too, baby.”Nina chuckled, but I could see the tears pooling in her eyes.“I wish I could just teleport to you right now.You have to take care of yourself for me.When I get back, I’m still going to punish you for getting hurt and putting yourself in danger.”

Knowing that her punishment would only be a few admonishing words and repeated nagging, I grinned, “Okay, I’ll be waiting for you.”

As if she knew what I was thinking, she chuckled and shook her head at me while Uncle Brogan said, “Aurora, Nina, and I have to go now.Stay safe and get well soon. We’ll talk to you as soon as we can, okay?”

“Got it.Take care of yourselves and be careful!”I said hurriedly before they hung up.

My mom took the phone and with a look, she urged me to lie back on my hospital bed.

Daddy Aisling, who was seated with his chair to the wall behind my mom, snorted, but my mom and I ignored him because whenever he was reading, he made all kinds of noises.

When my mom sat back after helping me lay back on my hospital bed and fluffing my pillow, Daddy Reece was the one who helped her rearrange her hair.

Then we fell back into a comfortable silence as my mom took out her tablet and started looking through what were probably scanned hospital files from her hospitals or laboratories.

Daddy Reece started asking me about cafeterias and what I thought could be improved in the Woodburn Pack’s cafeteria. We were discussing a couple of options when there was a knock on the door of my hospital room.

Like we all shared the same brain, every member of my family turned to the door.Daddy Reece even reached for the gun holstered around his waist, while my mom stretched her legs forward, so she could easily reach for the dagger she always hid in the holsters specially designed into her boots.

We didn’t know a lot of people in the Crawford Pack, so it was a surprise that anyone even knew we were in this new VIP hospital room they had moved me to.Since my mates would only knock once before walking in when they came to see me, whoever was at the door had to be a stranger. And most members of the Crawford Pack were hostile to the Supernatural Council.

My mom stood up, moving to go open the door, but Daddy Reece stopped her and gestured for her to take a seat before putting his hand on his gun and going to the door as the second knock came.

Standing at the door, Daddy Reece asked, “Who’s there?”

Alpha Owen, who was at the door, answered, “Owen Crawford, the Alpha of the Crawford Pack and his Luna.”

My parents relaxed, but Daddy Reece’s hands were still on his gun as he yanked the door open.Thankfully, there was no stranger using a recording of Alpha Owen at the door.

Daddy Reece ushered Alpha Owen and Luna Eleanor into the room while Daddy Aisling pulled two chairs from the stack of chairs my parents had requested for when my mates came over.

“Alpha Owen, Luna Eleanor, thank you for everything with the Mac Tire City Council.”My mom said with a polite smile.

I also smiled, wanting to thank him but knowing better than to butt into the adults’ conversation.Alpha Owen had helped my parents avoid an outright ban from Mac Tire City for breaking the rules and using both healing magic and an ancient Fae location teleportation spell that Uncle Doyle had cast using my mother’s blood to find me.As the head of the council, he stood as a witness on their behalf, assuring the council that they hadn’t used magic for malicious purposes and preventing the Council full of werewolf Alphas that were resentful about the Supernatural Council’s Pack Observer Law from banning my parents from Mac Tire City just because they could.

“No need to thank me so many times. You used magic to save my adopted son too, remember?”Alpha Owen said with a smile.

“Regardless, thanks a lot for everything.”Daddy Aisling said as he and Daddy Reece shook hands with Alpha Owen.

While they were shaking hands, Luna Eleanor approached my mom with a smile, giving her the flowers in her grasp.“Here are some flowers for Aurora.I didn’t know if she or you guys had any allergies, so I picked some neutral-smelling flowers.”

My mom smiled and thanked her.“Just in time, the ones we got a while back are already wilting.”

Then she took the vase with the wilting flowers by my bedside into the bathroom attached to my hospital room to replace the water and flowers in them.

“Hahaha, kids grow so fast these days and Aurora is so intelligent. It is a blessing that she is the Crawford Pack’s future Luna.”Alpha Owen said with a smile.

The easygoing mood in my hospital room disappeared, and I had a big urge to cover my face.

How could Alpha Owen bring up such a sensitive topic now?
