I needed to pull out all the stops and woo this guy, so I had shaved my legs, and washed my hair.

When morning came around, Bash called to tell me that there was an issue in London, and Rafael and Tatum needed his help there.

Which meant I was meeting my donor alone.

Well, as alone as I could be with two other women working, and a different, huge-ass demon bodyguard. I had asked his name, just to make sure he didn’t seem like he wanted to kill me.

He turned out to be nice enough, so that was good.

I glanced at the clock.

Five minutes until two.

I untied my branded half-apron quickly, hanging it on its hook, then stepped in front of the mirror and checked my makeup.

Perfect.

I usually only put mascara on, but there was no room for error today. I pulled out every gun I had to woo my potential mate, which included foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. I didn’t even look like myself, but it was for a good cause.

Survival.

That was what mattered.

I smoothed my leggings, made sure my push-up bra was in place, and straightened my fancy-ish cropped top. Grabbing the folder I’d prepared, I strode out into my coffee shop. Since I didn’t have a sweater on, I was cold. I was always cold.

But I’d survive.

Ella, my manager, winked at me as I passed her. She knew I was having a meeting there at two. We weren’t friends, but we were friendly. I felt that way about all of my employees, truthfully. They were all aware that I’d been turned into a vampire, but none of them treated me any differently. I appreciated that.

It didn’t makemefeel any better about it, but still.

I stopped in my tracks when I saw a tall, muscular man with tan skin and black, wavy, surfer-style hair. He was dressed in a pair of dark jeans, a white tee, and a faded denim-looking sports coat spread over his broad shoulders. His hands were on the display case as he grinned broadly at Kelsie.

What the hell was Zander Villin doing in my coffee shop?

I decided I didn’t want to know until after my meeting, and glanced at the clock.

Four minutes.

The shop was empty other than Zander, so I was still okay on time.

“Miley, this is Alexander!” Kelsie called me over before I made it out from behind the counter. “She’s mentioned wanting to meet our biggest customer,” she told Zander, with a wink.

I froze in my tracks, fingers tightening on my folder.

Zanderwas the gorgeous, secretive customer who’d had me going through my candy inventory twice as fast as usual over the past six months?

What the hell?

His grin widened. “I’m more of a fan than a customer at this point.”

Kelsie laughed, leaning closer to him.

Clearly flirting with him.

He didn’t seem to be flirting back, but it wouldn’t have surprised me if he did. Hewasthe wild card among the brothers.

“Nice to meet you,Alexander.” I gave him a professional smile, then crossed the room and took a seat at one of our tables. Wanting to see the guy when he arrived, I picked the seat that faced the window, and checked the clock again.
