He chuckled, tugging his tail free of my thighs. “Can’t have that.”

“Nope.”

Zander pulled me into his arms and carried me to the shower, ignoring my weak protest. “We’ll sleep after we’re clean, Sweetheart. I’ll do all the work.”

“My favorite words,” I mumbled.

He laughed. “And you think you’re not fun.”

A small smile stretched my lips.

Maybe Icouldbe fun.

Sometimes.

MILEY

It wasa good thing Zander forced me to shower, because when the morning came around, we were awoken by a loud knock on the door.

“Hello?” Anastasia’s demand had me fighting the urge to slide deeper beneath the covers.

“She’ll break in if we wait long enough,” Zander murmured, his lips stretched in a sleepy smile.

I swear, he looked so gorgeous like that, I could hardly handle it.

“We’re not waiting,” I pushed his arm off my chest, grabbing his t-shirt off the floor and pulling it over my head. It wouldn’t exactly hide what we’d been up to, but neither would my clothes from the night before.

Besides that, they were demons.

If we weren’t having some form of sex, Zander probably wasn’t eating.

Anastasia knocked again, louder.

I looked for my hair tie for a second, but the damn thing seemed to have vanished, so I gave up and padded across the room. Unlocking the door, I tugged it open and gave her the biggest smile I could muster.

It wasn’t huge.

I wasn’t even sure it qualified as a smile.

Hell, maybe it was a grimace.

“Hi.”

“Miley?” Anastasia’s jaw dropped, and the perfectly composed, ancient demon was speechless for a moment.

Her eyes dropped to my pajamas, then my hand, before she surged forward and pulled me in for a bone-crushing hug. Despite her age, she looked just like her sons—mid-to-late twenties, with tan skin. Her sleek black hair fell straight to the middle of her back, and her body was a perfect hourglass.

“How did this happen? When did this happen? You should’ve called me!” she exclaimed.

I felt a little bad for not calling.

She had always welcomed me with open arms, even when she didn’t think there was a chance I could ever end up mated to one of her sons.

I gave her a quick summary of Zander feeding me his blood on the sly, and admitted, “I’m sorry we kept it from you. I didn’t know where it was going to go, or if it was going to go anywhere, so I didn’t want to talk about it until I was sure.”

“It’s alright. I get it. I’m pissy, but I get it.” She pulled me in for another hug, and Zander finally joined me in the doorway.Unlike me, he was fully dressed, which told me our bags were somewhere in the room.
