I blinked.

I hadn’t expected a detailed, fact-based response from Zander about anything.

Particularly not vampires.

Charlie had mentioned I should drink at least three blood bags twice a week, but I ignored him. Increasing the stash of blood in my freezer was my first priority. I could get by on two bags a week, as long as I had them on separate days.

I hadn’t felt stable since I met Evan, and I was hoping having a huge blood stash would fix that. Eventually, I’d be able to eat more.

Not yet, but eventually.

“Youareeating three times a week, when I drop off the blood, aren’t you?”

I lied immediately. “Yes.”

His eyes narrowed at me.

I cleared my throat again, trying desperately hard to regain control of the situation. “My eating habits aren’t up for debate right now. We need to figure out a plan, and a schedule. Like I was saying, we could meet up in person every week, if you’d prefer that. Or, you could continue having the blood delivered.”

Zander’s gaze grew more relaxed, though there was still something in his eyes that almost seemed… predatory. I hated that it gave me goosebumps. “If you drink from my veins, we’ll both be affected by the lust it generates, Sweetheart. It’ll be damn near impossible for me to resist drinking from you with your venom in my system.”

I tugged on the neckline of my top. It was low cut, but still felt too tight. Was it getting hotter in there? “Right. I didn’t factor the demon thing in. That’s off the table, then. We’ll stick with the deliveries.”

“You said sealing the bond will give you the most security,” he pointed out.

Ihadsaid that.

What was I thinking?

I shouldn’t have finished my plan at four in the morning.

“I’m not really comfortable with that at this point. We can discuss it in the future.”

My phone buzzed, and I glanced down at it.

The blood drained from my face when I saw a text from Evan on the screen.

Evan

Still thinking about the sounds you made when you climaxed on my tongue.

Zander leaned over the table to read it, grabbing my phone after he saw the first few words. A growl tore from his throat when he read the rest of it, and I closed my eyes, leaning back against my chair.

“What the fuck, Miles? You’re still with the bastard who abducted and turned you?”

“No. He just won’t leave me alone.” I bit the words out.

“Block him,” Zander snapped.

“I tried,” I shot back. “He gets a new number every time I block him. If I open the texts and don’t answer, my phone tells him that I saw the messages, and he leaves me alone a little longer.”

“Does Bash know?”

“I’m not sure. He never asked, and I never told him. It’s my problem to deal with, not his. Or yours.” I added that last part as an afterthought.

“Like hell it isn’t.” He typed the code into my phone—I had no idea when he’d learned it—and lifted it to his ear.

My eyes went wide when I realized what he was doing, and I hissed, “Stop. Interacting only makes it worse.”
