She nods her head yes. “I’ll be bored to death without you guys here.”

All of us stand up and grab what meager belongings we brought with us to the cafeteria and make our way out to the parking lot. As normal, the guards follow us, walking at a safe distance but not too close to invade our personal space.

The twins meet with Ace and a few other guards out of ear range, so I have no idea what they’re saying. They are likely planning on how to keep my ass alive. I didn’t realize until we were out here how much I desperately needed this time away. Even though Joss says it would be boring, I think she just wants to make sure that we’re all safe, our mother figure.

I only had a few pair of jeans and leggings since I got here. If it wasn’t for the Santorin clothes that they gave me in my welcoming bag, I would be pretty pitiful.

I know I deserve it and there’s no reason I can’t go as long as we are very careful.

If I said I wasn’t still nervous about my safety, I would be lying. The Long twins are gorgeous, it would seem more reasonable that they would walk along a catwalk and not a back alley trying to save my life. But I believe Remy and Sloan.

It took a maddening amount of time for Ace to convince Sloan and Remy to let me go with my friends without taking every guard possible in the state of New York. We still have twenty guards with us that are sporadic and hopefully unseen. Remy and Sloan will not be joining us but the twins will. I’m worried but extremely excited.

I am desperately in need of girl time, from shopping to hanging out. My face is still too new and the hit too high for me to be fairly recognized, especially in smaller cities and towns. Even walking out and about, nobody will mistake me for anyone of importance. Only if the guards don’t back off.

“Let’s go,” Ace states as all of us shriek and wrap our arms around him, making Ace cringe in irritation.

They put us in Ana’s Range Rover to go into town and follow us in several unmarked vehicles. Ava and Eden sit in the far back with me, as Joss rides in the front. Chance and Pierce take the middle seat. The windows are heavily tinted in this bitch, keeping us safe and prying eyes away. I wouldn’t be shocked if this whole vehicle was bulletproof.

In the two months that I’ve been here, I’ve only left school one time and that was to be rushed to the place my dad had just bought. Having this freedom and time away feels euphoric.

After spending thirty minutes in the first store with Eden looking at the high-priced garb that she loves to wear, half of us walk outside and wait.

We wait for another fifteen more minutes before the girl comes out with four huge bags that require us to make a return trip to the vehicle to put them away.

“Ice cream,” I spit out. My body gravitates toward the mom-and-pop shop lined up with all the other bustling businesses.

“Yummy,” Joss states, standing next to me. Neither one of us caring if the others want to go or not.

We sit in comfortable refined silence outside on the chairs they have in front of the windows, enjoying the view of the small number of tourists and locals that wander by and shop.

The Long twins will eat anything with us, usually more. They work their asses off with training. They’re going to be gorgeous and they’re never going to get fat, forever. They probably have the metabolism of gods and are throwing it in our face.

After momentary brain freeze, we take in another shop. Then several more as we finally find the store that seems to fit Joss and me. Predominantly jeans and T-shirts.

“Try this.”

“No, this one.”

“This is so you.”

I never, not once, told anyone else to pick my clothing but they all seem to want to do it. Their own sense of style is particularly different from mine. But for each clothing item that is brought my way, I can tell who it personalizes with.

Ignoring all of their ideas, I leave with two bags full of comfortable jeans and T-shirts. I also need underwear and socks but this isn’t the store to get that shit at. I like the silk underwear and the fancy cushioning socks. I’m spoiled when it comes to that stuff. You should feel beautiful no matter what it needs to take you to get there.

I run into another store we passed by, grabbing two adorable thick hoodies. One that has a middle finger up and another one has a forest scene.

Since my life is in danger, I can’t possibly fight in high heels but I can hopefully hold my own in tennis shoes. I’m definitely not trying to land a husband or anything at the school. I’m just trying to survive and be as comfortable as I can doing that.

I notice that the twins don’t get anything for themselves except for food, so much food.

They’re taking what we’re doing extremely serious. It wouldn’t shock me, though, one bit if they were that damn good at their job.

“Everyone needs a black dress,” Chance points out as all of them start nodding their heads yes.

The next available store that looks like it might have a cute black dress and high heels, not flat, they push me into.

I pick out one black dress and I promise that I would try on a few more that they pick out for me. They all know my size and hopefully they can grab something fast. I’m almost at the end of my shopping escapade.
