She nods, her smile dropping from her face and her eyes widening on something over my shoulder.

“Well, hello, little one,” Skarlyt says soothingly. Despite her tone, Amelia backs up, fear pouring off her in waves.

“It’s okay. Skarlyt won't hurt you,” I promise. Amelia’s eyes slide to me and then back to Skarlyt, who halts her steps and raises her hands.

“Of course, I won’t.”

Amelia must not believe her, backing up until her back is up against the wall, her body vibrating with fear.

“You’re scaring her Skarlyt. Here let me try,” Rayne says, barreling through my friends.

“Rayne,” I warn.

She spins on me.

“What? Kids love me.”

I scoff. “Sure, they do.”

She pokes a finger into my chest.

“They do. Just watch.” She turns back toward Amelia. “It’s okay, pretty girl. We won’t hurt you.”

Instead of being appeased, Amelia seems to vibrate even more in fear.

I take a step between Rayne and Amelia but rather than soothing her with my presence like I hoped I would, she shakes even harder.

“I think she’s broken,” Rayne whispers. I turn on her in shock, not believing that she just said that.

“She’s not broken,” A deep voice rumbles from behind me and we all move out of the way as Andres, the mountain of a man, pushes his way through our group.

I watch in awe as Amelia stops shaking.

“It’s okay little one.”

It only takes those four words, and Amelia launches herself into Andres’ open arms, sobs wracking her body. He cradles her like a baby, her head nuzzling into his chest.

Within seconds, soft snores drift from her little body.

“What is that about?” I whisper, stepping closer and running a hand over her hair.

“She's an avian shifter who is terrified of women. She recognized me as an alpha of sorts,” Andres responds, keeping his voice low.

“Oh, so the King of Dragons is better with kids than me now?” Rayne asks, not even trying to keep the snark out of her voice.

“Possibly,” Andres responds simply. Rayne crosses her arms over her chest, muttering under her breath about being the granddaughter of a goddess and how that should be worth something.

“So, what now?” Sarah asks, her eyes roaming over Amelia's small face.

“We need to go to Greece. Loukas' parliament is there and that's the first place Antonia will look.”

“So that's the monster's name? Antonia?” Rayne sneers while Drusilla steps up and puts her hand on her best friend’s arm.

“Do you think we should take her to Aurora?” Dru asks, gesturing toward Amelia.

“I don’t think we have the time.”

“What’s the plan when we get there?” Sebastyn asks, stepping closer to Andres and Amelia. If I had to hazard a guess, he was feeling the emotions pouring off Amelia more than the rest of us since he’s an empath.
