“And what about you?” I ask, looking at little Erik in Bree’s arms, lifting Nora as I stand and walking toward them.
“Oh, he missed you all right. So much so that I think he needs a full day of Aunty Pearl,” Bree says with a smirk.
“He’s not sleeping?” I ask, placing Nora on her feet and reaching out, taking Erik from Bree’s arms.
“He’s cutting teeth again,” Matt says, and I place my forehead against Erik’s, my magic seeping out of me a little and soothing his newly formed teeth.
A throat clears behind me, and I turn to find Loukas standing behind me.
“Girls, I would like you to meet Loukas, my mate.” Both girls have wide eyes, surprise evident. “You didn’t tell them?” I ask Bree and Erik.
“No, I thought you’d like to tell them.”
“Hi, girls. It’s nice to meet you,” he says, shaking each girl's hand.
“Are you a mermaid too?” Nora asks while Makayla nudges her with her elbow.
“Sea nymphs.”
“Oh right,” Nora says with a nod. “Are you a sea nymph too?”
“Nope, I am a shifter,” Loukas supplies.
“What kind?” Nora asks and once again her sister nudges her.
“That’s rude.”
Loukas chuckles. “It’s okay. I’m an owl shifter.”
“That’s so cool,” They both say.
“All right. Give me my grandbabies,” Deb says, walking up and scooping Erik out of my arms.
“Baby stealer,” I accuse with a smile on my face.
“Proudly,” she declares, snuggling into Erik. “Come girls.”
“Wait. Deb, I’d like you to meet my mate, Loukas,” I say, stepping back into Loukas’ arms.
“Well, it’s about time,” she says with a smile. “It’s very nice to meet you, Loukas. Make sure you take care of our girl, or you’ll have a gang of pissed-off supernaturals ready to take you out.”
“Mom,” Matt warns.
“It’s true. We’re very fond of Pearl,” she says, placing her free hand on the side of my face.
“Aw, Deb, I’m fond of you too. But have no fear, Loukas is a good man.”
“He better be,” she warns, ushering the girls out the door. “But it is very nice to meet you, Loukas.”
“I suppose this is where I say goodbye to you too,” Loukas says, turning to me.
I dip my chin in acknowledgement. “It is.” I glance around seeing everyone gathered and ready to go.
He pulls me in and merges his lips with mine and I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him in closer.
“Come home to me.”
“Always,” I whisper against his mouth.
