I pull her to me, kissing her deeply. She may be a virgin, but she’s a natural.

And she is still a virgin. Gonna have to do something about that.

“I need about twenty minutes and a big drink of water if you still want to fuck a rock star tonight.”

“I do. I’ll go get us some water.”

“Stay. You worked hard. I can find the kitchen.”

She nods. “Bottles are in the fridge.”

I tuck her in so she doesn’t get cold. Damn. I don’t remember the last time I took care of someone. The area around my heart is burning a little, but it’s a sweet kind of pain.

Undone by the virgin. If the paps get a load of this, my reputation is toast.

It’s morning for real now as sunlight filters through the kitchen window. A brand new day. I feel kind of new myself. She makes me...different.

Back in her bedroom, I set a glass of water on her nightstand. She’s out cold. A sleeping angel.

She’s so beautiful, so pure, so innocent. I never thought I’d be here, in her bedroom, ready to make love to a virgin. I’m about to take something of hers that she can never get back.

But I can’t help it. I want to take her. I want to show her what it’s like to make love to her fantasy. I’m not sure I can give her the kind of love she’s looking for, but I can give her pleasure.

And that’s enough for now.

Or is it?

She’s got some paper on the little desk, and I’m suddenly hearing a melody in my head. My fingers itch to write down some random words calling me.

I grab a pen, psyched for the first inspiration to write a song that I’ve had in a long time.

“He played his guitar, with a rebel’s pride,

But in her presence, he felt something deep inside.

She brought out the tender, in his heart of stone,

In a world of shattered dreams...”

She mumbles in her sleep, pulling me from my thoughts.

My muse snores a little, and I chuckle and scribble out some more, trying to untangle the jumble in my mind. The words come fast and furious, out of order, I think, but shining a light on my truth.

I know she expects me to take her tonight...this morning I guess now. But this doesn’t feel so right anymore. She deserves better. She deserves someone who will give her the love she deserves, not a rock star who will leave her brokenhearted. Not some asshole looking to pop her cherry and leave town.

I look up at the poster of myself on her ceiling, hardly recognizing the man I once was.

This girl has changed me.

Like, rewired me in some way.

I slip from the room, determined to protect her innocence.

Once I’m in the hallway, I realize what I’ve done.

I’ve fallen in love with her.
