Sebastian

Matty’s challenge had the last of my resolve crumbling.

Oh, who was I kidding? The tiniest taste of his blood earlier had almost shattered it. But I’d had to heal the cut. It had been so deep. A quick lick when he was unconscious, and it was like it had never happened. What was the alternative, taking him to hospital and making him suffer longer?

It was far easier for me to be the one suffering. Because, believe me, getting a small taste of his blood and then knowing I had to pull away?

That was nothing short of torture.

I should’ve left before he came around. Maybe then I wouldn’t have been in this position.

Matty was shaking in my grip, but the lift of his head was determined. Regal, almost.

A king waiting for me to serve him.

Like he could sense his triumph, the corners of Matty’s lips twitched up.

I was done for. All my concerns about how I wasn’t good for him went out the window, along with the promises I’d made the others to stay away from him.

I would. After this, I’d leave his life, never to darken his doorway again.

My arms went around him as I began to toy with the buttons at the top of his shirt. He’d only done it up halfway, leaving an expanse of creamy skin on display. I’d been hard from the second he opened the door.

Now, with him so close to me, my erection was almost painful. I couldn’t look away from our reflection. How I towered over him. How safe he looked surrounded by me. His words from before came back to haunt me. I understood exactly where he was coming from when he’d told me what criteria his next boyfriend needed to fulfil…but it had made me want to scream. Not because I wanted to be that man, but because there was no way Matty would be happy with the things he’d listed. He might believe that right now, but it was his anxiety talking. I might not have known everything about Matty, but I knew deep in my soul that he needed to be loved. He needed it all. Excitement. Passion. Devotion.

He couldn’t have those things with me, but he deserved to have them with someone. I was going to show him. Show him he didn’t need to settle. “What about everything you’re looking for?”

Matty’s breathing turned shallow. “What?”

“You know, your perfect man. Someone who’s safe.”

One button came undone under my fingers, revealing more of the creamy skin beneath.

“Predictable.”

Another button.

“Sensible.”

Another.

“Reliable.”

I undid the final button, letting his shirt fall open. Matty was caught in a trance, a faint blush blooming across his chest.

I pushed the shirt from his shoulders, letting it drop to the floor beside us. “Is that what you want, Matty?”

“What?” he asked, his wide eyes meeting mine in the mirror.

There was arrogance in every inch of my smirk. Fuck, I shouldn’t delight in how easy it was to turn him to putty. “I said, is that what you want? Someone sensible to come home to every night? Someone pleasant who will keep you company but never really know you? Someone you can exchange subpar blowjobs with once a week before falling asleep four feet apart in the bed?”

Okay, so it was a bleak future I was painting, but I couldn’t help it. I needed Matty to want…more. He deserved to be with someone who’d treasure him. Who’d worship him. Who’d bring the light and passion to his life that he needed.

A shadow flickered across Matty’s eyes as he looked away. “Maybe that’s what I deserve.”

“No,” I said, tugging his chin until he was forced to look at me again. “That’s not what you deserve.”

“Oh yeah?” There was a hint of defiance in his voice. “Then what do I deserve?”
