When I look back at Miles, his eyes are dancing and he has a big grin on his face. “Man, I never thought I’d see you like this, Drew. I like it though. You two fit.”

Those words drift through my mind for the next few days, making me smile as I get dressed to see Andrew at work. He went back the day after the New Year but we’ve stayed the night with each other since he proposed. I love waking up with him. I hate coming back at three in the morning though, knowing he has to be up a few hours later. He never complains though. But still, I need to find another bartender. I would like to wake up and make him breakfast some morning or at least have some coffee ready for him.

Today, Bryce said he’d work so I can be off tomorrow. I’m going to spend that time making an ad for a new bartender. There are plenty here, I’m sure—I need the help now.

Especially with the news I have to share with my alpha. With shaking hands, I put the box in my pocket, grab Andrew’s lunchbox and walk out the door.

The January air is crisp and I pull in a deep lungful. It’ll be fine. There’s nothing we can do to change it, so I need to chill. I need to relax and wait to see what my mate thinks.

He forgot his lunchbox at home, so I figured it was only fitting that I take his food and give him the news at the same time. Besides, I’ve never been to his workplace. It’ll be nice to see where he makes all the magic happen.

Ten minutes later, I’m walking into the publishing house. An omega sitting behind the front desk smiles at me. “Good morning. Do you have an appointment?”

Shaking my head, I walk over and set the lunchbox on the desk. “No. I’m looking for my fiancé, Andrew Berch.”

His eyes grow wide. “Andrew is engaged? Oh, this is juicy gossip! I need to know all the details.”

Despite myself, I chuckle. “I’ll leave that up to him to tell. Is he free?”

Coming around the desk, the omega loops an arm through mine and starts leading me down a hallway. “Probably not because he works very hard, but I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to see his fiancé.” He giggles. “This is great news. After his last boyfriend, we were all afraid he wouldn’t find anyone.” He looks over at me with a genuine smile. “So good to hear he’s getting married.”

When we stop outside of an open office door, I grin. Andrew’s eyebrows are knitted together, a pen behind his ear and one between his teeth. He has a thick stack of papers in front of him, some with red ink on the pages. I admire his profile as he concentrates, taking a moment to thank all the Gods that he’s mine.

The omega beside me clears his throat and Andrew’s head flies up. His face breaks open into a smile when he sees me. “Baby, hey. I wasn’t expecting you.”

“Aww, baby,” the omega says, letting my arm go and placing both hands over his heart. “Andrew, why didn’t you tell us you were dating before the break?”

I expect Andrew to get shy about how fast things happened and not want to tell anyone, but my mate grins. “We met during our break. We’re fated mates.”

The omega squeals and speed walks away, stopping outside a cubicle and whispering to someone there. There’s another squeal and another after that.

Andrew yanks me into his office and shuts the door. He leans against it and smiles at me. “Sorry about them. They mean well. Sharrod, the one who brought you back, has been trying to match make me for years. I’m glad you met him. He’s really nice.”

“Glad you work with good people.” I walk up to him and lean against him, tipping my face up to kiss his lips. It starts off gentle and I mean to keep it that way, but when Andrew slides his hands down to my ass, I trace my tongue over his lips. Almost immediately, Andrew glides his tongue over mine and we plunder each other’s mouths for a bit.

I pull away, breathing heavily, putting a hand on his chest when he tries to chase my mouth. “Not here. You know I can’t keep quiet.”

Andrew chuckles. During my heat, Andrew told me that the neighbors would call in a noise complaint if I didn’t keep it down. “Yeah, I know. Why are you here? Not that I don’t want you here, I’m just wondering.” I hold up his lunch box and he smiles. “Thank you. I knew I forgot something. You’re the best mate ever.”

Grinning, I put the lunch box down, take a deep breath and turn back to him. “You mean it?”

It’s like he can’t keep his hands off me. He walks over, wraps his hands around my waist and goes to my mating mark. He kisses it, then breathes in my scent. “Of course, I—”

He stops talking then pulls away. Andrew’s eyes bore into me like he notices something in me has changed and I feel my eyes fill with tears. I’m not sure if they’re from happiness or fear. “Do you really mean it? And did you mean what you said about me carrying your baby?”

The look of glee that crosses his face has tears falling and I grin, pulling the boxed pregnancy test from my pocket and handing it to him. His hands shake as he pulls out the stick and sees the word “pregnant” on the front of the little screen.

I don’t have time to brace myself before I’m picked up off my feet. I giggle as he pulls me close, spinning me around. “Thank you, baby. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is the best news I could have ever gotten.”

“I’m not sure if thanks is the right thing to say.” I wipe the tears from my face when he pulls his nose from my neck. “I love you, alpha.”

“I love you too. Your scent is different. Still smells like home, but it’s different. And you still smell like the omega I fell for.”

Nodding, I squeeze my eyes shut and place my forehead to his. He still hasn’t let me down, but I don’t mind. I like being in his arms.

A knock sounds at his door and it’s opened before he can say come in. “And! I just heard the craziest rumor.” The omega that walks in stops short and his eyes ping pong back and forth between us.

I squirm and Andrew lets me down. “Crazy rumor?” my alpha asks, pulling me tight to his side. “What might that be?”
