“To check everyone's okay and get those out that need medical care. Someone’s gotta check on the others.” As I storm back into the building, I’m met by Savage trying to hop his way out. “Wait out front with Cade. I'm going to get everyone else out!”

I head through the church and find a few guys banged up a little and Dozer slumped against the podium. “Dozer, can you hear me?” He must have passed out. He’s lost a fair bit of blood. Looks like he took a bullet to the hip and one to the shoulder.

As he comes around, the first word from his mouth is, “Ray?”

“They’ve taken her and Steel to the hospital. Come on, let’s get you out front, and when I’ve got everyone, I’ll take us to the clinic to get sorted.” He leans against me as I pull him to his feet, helping him outside and sitting him against the front of the building.

Viking’s out there ordering Carmen's guys to fetch the armoured trucks and kill anyone else they find. I walk back inside, up the stairs, and into the room where everything went to shit. My brothers and Doc are covered in blood and in total shock. “Guys, we need to get out of here. I don’t know if they called reinforcements, but we must all leave now. The helicopters have left and taken Ray and Steel.”

Doc tries to get to his feet, but he's shaking. “It's bad, Tank. I tried with everything I had… the bullet went in under his vest and just ricocheted through him. This blood… it's all his. It's all his, Tank. I tried.”

“Doc… was he still breathing?”

“Yeah!” he rasps.

“Then we need to go.” I help him to his feet, and he staggers a little. “You okay?”

“Yeah… it's just shock. I'm fine.”

“Priest, you need to get to the clinic.”

We get everyone downstairs, and those that are good head back to the MC. Those that need attention will come with me to the clinic. I look around, and no one moves, “Move it the fuck now!” I yell, and it shocks them all to get up off the ground. We lost a few good men tonight, but not as many as we could have lost. We did good.

As we head outside, we split into groups. Eleven of us need medical attention. The rest, Doc can patch up later. I take those and load them into the armoured truck. The others make their way back to the other trucks and head home. Before getting in the truck, I call Skye, and she answers straight away.

“Tank?” she gasps.

“Yes, love!”

“Thank fuck. Ray…?”

“Her and Steel have been taken to hospital somewhere. Ares and Dane are with them. Some of the guys are wounded, so I’m taking them to the clinic. Then I’ll be home, okay.”

“Okay… Tank, I love you.”

“I love you too, love.”

As I hang up and head to the clinic, I thank my lucky stars I didn’t get more than a graze.

After some of us are patched up, the ones that are able to head home, it's a sombre return. The girls are gathered together in the coffee shop. Skye comes running out and throws herself into my arms. I melt into it as I hold on tight, thanking whoever was looking after me that I made it home to my family.

“Where’s Tray? I need to hold my boy!”

She grins at me, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. “The girls are looking after him.”

As we walk into the coffee shop, they're all there: Scar, Demi, Carmen, Beauty and Tali. Tali’s rocking Tray in her arms and brings him over when she sees me. “Hey, what are you guys doing here?”

Carmen smiles. “When Viking rushed off to help you find Ray, we wanted to be here when she got back.”

“Have you seen Viking?”

“Yeah, he told us the news. We’re gonna stay till we have an update on where she is and how she’s doing. Then we’ll see. Dice says we can stay at the apartment till we hear.”

I nod as I hug my little boy tighter, and he wriggles in my arms, grabbing my thumb and holding onto it. Fuck, I love this little boy more than anything. I close my eyes and breathe him in.

“You okay?” Skye asks, and I smile.

“Just tired.” I kiss her on the cheek. “I’m gonna head home. You wanna stay for a while? I can take Tray with me if you like?”
