But Craig never answered.

After some time, he made me go back inside the house. I begged him to let me stay in the living room for a while. He obliged, and I was so happy to not be in the dark room anymore.

While sitting in the plain living room, I thought about where we were. I realized I knew this place. This is a new neighborhood that is being built and I actually have some houses for sale here. I was glad I knew where we were, and now I had to think of an escape plan.

I was brought out of my head by his phone ringing. The other person on the phone was screaming, “They know you have her and it’s only a matter of time before they find you. I won’t be calling you again because they are getting close.”

I had hope once I heard this, but the look on Craig’s face morphed into fear then anger, making me nervous. He grabbed me by the hands and drugged me back to the room. He was whispering in a panic, “This wasn’t supposed to happen.”

He looked at me and grabbed my face, trying to kiss me. I pushed him away from me.

“You hoe yourself out to Jason, so you might as well let me get it again.”

Before I knew what I was doing, I slapped him. How dare he say that to me? I only slept with him and Jason, and it took for him to marry me to get in my panties.

He pushed me onto the bed and got on top of me. I tried to push him away, but he was strong. He tried to lift my dress up while kissing on my neck. I felt sick feeling his hands on me.

“I’m sure if we have sex, then you will stay with me and leave Jason for good,” he said. “Let’s just do it one more time and then you can tell Jason that I didn’t kidnap you and you left him for me.”

I don’t know who was on that phone that got him so spooked, but it made him even more delusional. I don’t know why he would think I would willingly have sex with him after everything that happened to us. I used all my strength to knee him in his balls. He rolled over me, groaning in pain as he held his sack.

Jumping up, I started hitting him over and over again. I had to fight for myself, for my baby. I wouldn’t stop hitting him.

CHAPTER 20

JASON

Dad called me to his home office, saying it was very important. It better be because I couldn’t stop looking for Dawn just for a chat with him. Darius and I have been working nonstop looking for her. I called all my contacts and set up a meeting telling them that my fiancée was kidnapped by her ex and whoever had word of her whereabouts was to let me know. I threatened them that if they knew anything, didn’t tell me, and I found out, they would die a slow, painful death.

I wasn’t kidding either—I would torture them before I killed them. I never wanted Darius or Dawn to see this side of me, but I had to do it for her.

Darius has been by my side since she was kidnapped, and he told me he wasn’t leaving it until I found her. I told him that I would get my hands dirty, and he should stay away and wait until I found her, but he insisted he didn’t care. He would get his hands dirty too if it meant bringing his only family home.

I didn’t tell him he would be an uncle because I knew she would want to tell him herself, but also because I didn’t want to think of her being hurt while alone with our baby. I couldn’t think of that right now; I needed my head in the game for what’s to come.

We walked into Dad’s office, and he told us to sit down. We did, and he opened a folder.

“I told you I never trusted your cousin.”

I was pissed. “Did you really bring me here about him when you know my wife is missing?”

Dad and Darius looked shocked at me for calling Dawn my wife. But to me, she was my wife and once I get her back, she will become my wife.

Dad cleared his throat. “This pertains to her. He doesn’t know he was being followed, but my contact just got back to me with these photos.”

I grabbed them, finding it was pictures of my cousin and Craig talking. They had been talking to each other for weeks based on this.

“Your cousin is the one who helped Craig kidnap Dawn. I just received a recording of him telling Craig that we know about the kidnap, we were getting close, and that he wouldn’t see them for some time.”

“Where is he, Dad?” I gritted out.

“In the dungeons. We picked him up at the airport, trying to leave the country.”

I jumped out of my seat, running out of the office.

Dad had another building in the back of his house that led to the underground dungeon. It looked rundown, but that’s just how he wanted it to look. It helped put fear into the people that had to be down here.

I walked inside and the guard let me pass. With every step I took, I grew angrier and angrier. I went inside the room and saw my cousin, Leonard, tied to a chair, smiling while looking at me. His black hair looked like he had run his fingers through it multiple times, and those beady eyes were still dark as ever.
