She takes the dress and walks over to Grayson. They look up and meet my eyes. He nods slightly and turns away, leading his sister out of the room.
Bar comes over and presses into my side. “Is it ready?”
I kiss him with a hunger I haven’t felt since the heat. “Yes, it’s ready.”
“Are we going home?”
I shake my head. “One more stop.”
Barren frowns at the house. “Who does this belong to?”
I put the key in the front door and open the house.
“What do you think?”
He prowls around, growing more and more unhappy. “Whose house is this?” He snaps at me.
“Well, this is the one that Scarlet visited this morning. This is the one she liked but said was too big for just her.”
Barren freezes, and then his expression turns predatory, and he roams around, checking every corner, every cupboard.
He finds the nest and the vast bedrooms.
“I want it.”
“Okay.” I smile at him as he continues to glide towards me.
“This furniture needs to go. Get someone to replace all this.” I make a list of the changes Barren wants and text the realtor and Taylor.
Barren turns to me and stares. “What if she doesn’t want us back?”
I walk over and embrace him tightly. “Oh, baby, we aren’t playing to lose here. We will get her back.”
“And bring her home? Here? Our home?”
“Yes. Here or back at the manor. Our homes.”
Barren sighs. “You don’t play fair.”
I grin at him. “I know.”
“What did it cost you with Hazel?”
I scowl, still confused by her request. “She wanted me to invite and hire a pack as security at the party we are attending.”
“What pack?”
“Pack Raptore.”
Barren wrinkles his nose. “They are a good pack, but too edgy and dark for me.”
“Good thing you have a pack just for you.”
He laughs and looks around. “This will be our home.”
I rest my chin on his shoulder while he studies the vaulted ceilings.
“Two more days to go.” I whisper. The heart of our pack is beating again. We’re more alive than we’ve been in a year. We’re hunting down our mate, and this is one hunt I’m not going to lose.
