Lou: If they don’t mind that I work at night, I will be happy to apply for it.

Henrik: The job is yours if you want it.

Lou:Just like that.

Henrik: I’ll email you everything and you’ll let me know if you’re interested.

Lou: Is this going to cost me another fancy event with the lumberjack grump?

Henrik: I prefer Kentbury grump. I’m not a lumberjack.

Lou: Are you sure about that? Because you got the look.

Henrik: I wish I could show you my unamused face.

Lou: I’ll be buying you a flannel shirt for Christmas.

Henrik: My birthday is way before the holidays, just saying.

Lou: Oh, I already have your birthday present.

Henrik: If you say an ax, we’re going to have a problem.

Lou:  emoji

Henrik: It’s almost four. The children are beginning to arrive.

Lou: Which children?

Henrik: High schoolers. I’m the hockey coach.

Lou: Are you training the next Henrik Tremblay?

Henrik: There are kids with lots of potential, but I’m not sure if they’ll follow that route. I’m teaching them to love the game and to believe in themselves. The rest . . . Well, it’ll come later.

Lou: You’re not what I expected.

Henrik: Talk to you soon.

ChapterEleven

Lou: I just realized that I’m working for one of your father’s companies.

Henrik: You are.

Lou: Thank you for getting me this job. It’s actually fun and has benefits—I have a 401(k). I know, you can judge me for only getting one of those now but unfortunately I was too sheltered. I always criticized McKay for being so independent and not marrying the first guy she dated.

Henrik: You’re too harsh on the younger you.

Lou: Can you blame me? She wasn’t very smart.

Henrik: You were summa cum laude. Best in your class.

Lou: And look where I’m at right now.

Henrik: I can’t, you’re pretty far from here.

Lou: Ha!
