He nods and holds his hand out, “I.D. Please.”

I slide my ID to him, then some cash, and he passes me two glasses.

Walking back to the table, I place one and slice of lime in front of Caspian, holding my shot up between us to cheers, “To friendship, loyalty, and fierce friends”

A ghost of a smile flickers on Caspian’s face, and he knocks his glass against mine before we both toss the alcohol back, chasing it with the lime.

I make a face and Caspian barks a laugh.

“Can’t have balls of steel every time, unfortunately.” I plop the lime into the empty shot glass and take a long sip of my mixed drink.

“You were pounding them back on your birthday.”

My heart stutters in my chest.

How long was he watching me?

Waving my hand dismissively, I take another fry, “I was already drunk” I say before popping the fry in my mouth.

“Ah” Sarcasm drips from his voice as he smirks.

I stand abruptly and walk back to the bar, handing a hundred dollar bill to the bartender.

“Four shots of Tequila” his eyebrows shoot up to his hairline, and he blinks at me before glancing at the clock nervously and back, then nods.

As the bartender steps away to get the shots, I turn and my gaze automatically falls to Caspian talking to the waitress. She laughs and flips her hair over her shoulder as a pang of jealousy hits my gut like a hot knife as he smiles and his eyes rove down her body.

He’s not yours, idiot. He can talk to who ever he wants.

My mind shoves those thoughts away, regardless if I enjoy the mental image of ripping her hair out.

She walks away, and I notice the sway of her hips more exaggerated than it was earlier when she was taking our orders.

That’s it. She’s going to be a bald bitch before today ends if she isn’t careful.

The bartender warily hands me a small tray with four shots of tequila and an equal number of limes before going to grab the change from the register.

“Thanks, keep it.” My voice comes out level and curt.

He blinks with shock, “Are you sure? That’s more than the actual shots.”

I laugh dryly and wave before taking the tray, “Yeah, I’m sure.”

If I end up ripping that waitress’s hair out, he won’t be thanking me later.

I bring the tray to our table and Caspian’s eyes grow wide with amusement.

I eye him with suspicion, “What is it?”

“I ordered more drinks too,” He says with a chuckle.

“Oh, we’re getting drunk, drunk then.” I say dryly and start arranging the shots in between us but Caspian halts my hands.

He stands up and moves to the seat beside me, then sits down and leans back, putting an ankle over his knee and his arm on the top of my chair.

He grins with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes that sends heat straight to between my thighs and I clench them automatically in my seat.

“Alright, now I’m ready to go shot for shot.” He says with a wink.
