"I am. So freaking happy." I learned something about myself tonight, and no one treated me like a kid or ignored what I wanted. For once, what I wanted for me mattered. Bronx made sure it mattered.

From the very first moment, he listened to what I had to say. He didn't try to decide for me. He let me explore and helped me articulate what I liked. He made tonight about me when he so easily could have made it about himself. In his position, a lot of men would have done exactly that…made tonight about their desires and their pleasures. Not Bronx.

"You're glowing," Elodie says. "Is it the sex or the man?"

"We didn't have sex."

"You came home with no panties."

"I didn't say we didn't have fun," I mumble, blushing. "I said we didn't have sex."

"It's definitely the man then."

I gulp, nodding. "I think so."

"Now you just look terrified," she says with a little laugh, scraping her long hair up into a ponytail.

"I like him."

"I certainly hope so. You came home with no panties."

"I hate you."

"No, you don't. You love me."

"You're right. I do love you. But if you remind me one more time that I came home without panties, I'm not even going to be sorry that I accidentally told Bronx you gave me the invitation."

She pales slightly. "You told him?"

"He freaking mind-ninja'ed it out of me. I didn't tell him where you got it, though." I shoot her a look. "I'm not even asking where you got it."

"Stole it from Coby," she says, shrugging like it's not a big deal. We both know that's a lie though. She's still pale, her eyes full of worry. I don't think that's because she's afraid of Coby, though. At least, not afraid in the traditional sense. The simple truth is, I'm not the only one in this room hung up on a Kaiser brother.

Elodie's been in love with Coby since we moved to town two months ago. But he's her brother's best friend. As far as Elodie is concerned, that makes him untouchable. Her brother would lose his mind if they got together. And Elodie idolizes her brother. He practically raised her.

She barely even speaks to Coby as a result.

She pastes a bright smile on her face, shaking off all thoughts of Coby. "Whatever. I'll make up something if he asks about it. I want to hear about the club. What's it like?"

"Can I tell you tomorrow? I need a shower and my bed."

"Mmhmm," she says with a smirk. "I bet it'll be a cold shower too, won't it?"

"No. Yes." I pick up a pillow, tossing it at her. "Shut up."

She catches the pillow, laughing hysterically. "Go shower. You can share all the dirty details tomorrow."

I hop up from the couch, tugging my dress down to keep myself covered, and then blow her a kiss.

"Actually, you know what? Maybe I don't want to know the dirty details. I do not need to have random dirty images of Bronx popping into my head next time he comes into the shop."

"Oh! The shop!" I spin around on my heel. I can't believe I forgot. "Your first shift is tomorrow!"

Slade Stark just hired her to work the front desk of his shop on weekends and evenings. She's really excited about it…and equally as anxious. Both her brother and Coby work at the tattoo parlor.

"Yeah," she whispers, gulping. "Four hours in a tattoo shop with Keegan and Coby."

"You've wanted this job since we moved to town. Working with them will be a dream come true for you," I promise, reaching out to grab her hand. "Don't let that little voice of doubt overwhelm you. You can do this, Elodie."
