He came our way and greeted Lennox and congratulated him. He then made his rounds greeting everyone. When he got to me, he shook my hand. “Nigga, what the fuck?” I asked.

“I know. I needed to see her, J. I was passing through, coming from New Orleans, and decided to drop off a gift.”

I twisted my lips to the side. “You know she happy, right?”

“Yeah, but I’m not. Seeing her calms me, man. I feel like I’m about to lose it. What the fuck wrong with me?”

I walked off to the side, giving Yendi a wink, as she stared at Nate with wide eyes. Apparently, she knew who he was. When we got closer to the door, I glanced over at Jess to see her watching us. This wasn’t good. Brix was too jealous and possessive for this shit. While Nate ignored Jess, but spoke to Brix, it didn’t help matters. Brix’s eyes stayed on him.

“You being here may calm you, but it sends Jess into a frenzy. First off, I believe she’s still attracted to you, so she has to hide that shit in front of Brix. She loves him and doesn’t want to do anything to offend him. You being here offends him.”

“Lennox and I are friends. I won’t ever approach, Jess. I just need to see her until my obsession wears off.”

“That ain’t an obsession, Nate. That’s a fucking soul tie. You gon’ have to get that out of your system.”

He slid his hand down his face. “I know. Noah said the same thing. He said he went through something like this with that model, Sonya. J, how do I move on? I was smitten from the first time I saw her. I’ll be okay for a while… like months, but then all of a sudden, she fills my brain and won’t leave until I can either see her or talk to her.” He paused and stared at the floor for a moment, then looked up and said, “She knew I was coming.”

My eyebrows nearly hiked up off my fucking face. “Y’all talked?”

“No, not verbally. I sent her a message on IG saying that I would be swinging through to drop off a gift. She said okay and that Brix would have to understand that Lennox is my boy.”

“Aww shit. I need to talk to her ass. I still don’t think you should have come, but what can I say if she gave the okay?”

Nate shrugged his shoulders. He looked around me to steal a glance at her, then said, “Well, I gotta go. You still gon’ make it next weekend?”

“Yeah, and I’ll have a plus one.”

I waved Yendi over because her eyes had never left us. I chuckled as she stood. She looked nervous as hell. Nate said, “Word? Who’s the lucky woman?”

I nodded my head in her direction as she approached, and Nate turned to her. “Damn. She’s beautiful, bruh.”

“Mm hmm.” Once Yendi got close, I grabbed her hand and said, “Nate, this is my lady, Yendi Odom. Baby, this is Nate Guillory.”

She stared up at him and extended her hand. “Nice to meet you, Nate. My dad was a fan.”

“Nice to meet you too. Is that right?”

“Yeah. You couldn’t say shit about Nate around him,” she said, then chuckled. “This is an honor. Do you mind taking a picture with me to send to my siblings?”

“I don’t mind at all.”

Yendi took her phone from her pocket, and I grabbed it from her and snapped the picture. I did my best to get all of Nate in the frame while standing so close to them. The nigga was six eight. I managed to accomplish the feat though. She took her phone from my extended hand and damn near inspected the picture. I slowly shook my head as Nate chuckled. He grabbed the phone from her and held it up to take another picture of the two of them.

When he gave it back to her, he glanced Jess’s way once again. I looked over to where she was and saw that she was staring at us.Fuck.This wasn’t good. “Can I speak to her? I mean, I spoke to her at the video shoot, and he was cool.”

“That nigga was everythingbutcool. If you gon’ keep staring at her, you might as well.”

He nodded then made his way to Jess. I slid my arm around Yendi as I watched. “How do you know him?” she asked.

“He’s Nesha’s husband’s friend. I met him at their wedding rehearsal. He has a thing for Jess, but she chose Brix over him. He can’t seem to let her go though.”

I watched Jess stand and give him a side hug then I brought my attention to Brix. He was watching, but he hadn’t made a move in their direction. Jess was gonna fuck up if she wasn’t careful. I turned my attention back to the beautiful woman next to me. “You wanna go to the game with me next weekend?”

Her brows lifted. “Sure. I would love to.”

“Aww hell naw! Jakari, get yo’ ass over here, cause I ain’t doing this shit. I ain’t being bare foot and pregnant for no damn body,” Uncle Storm yelled.

When I turned to them and saw the fellas with balloons under their shirts to make them look pregnant and their shoes in front of them, I almost died in laughter. They should have known that fool would make a scene. He popped the balloon and went sat down. I slowly shook my head then noticed Nate heading back my way. “See y’all next weekend, bruh.”
