“Women are having children later in life,” Ava said.

“They are,” she said. “And there is always adoption too.”

She was curious what Carson thought of that. She’d never brought it up to other men in the past, but it was an option if she couldn’t have a child herself. Even surrogacy.

“I’d love any child of mine regardless of if I was able to biologically father them,” he said.

She smiled softly. She’d expected that, considering how Ava accepted Adele as her own and the little girl referred to Carson’s family as grandparents and aunts and uncles.

The first song started and everyone was quiet after that. She was happy since she didn’t feel this was the place to talk about children and the future when she’d only been dating Carson for a month.

If it felt more like years that was on her.

“I hope you didn’t eat too much because we know you’ve got to get on that dance floor,” she said to Carson ninety minutes later.

Dinner had been seven courses and she was afraid she might not be able to move either.

There was no expense spared for this event. It got her thinking…her father was going to do the same thing when her day came.

The plates were all being cleared away, the music was starting to change and some people were moving to dance but not a lot.

Why not put Carson on display?

She got up and went to talk to the DJ, put in a request, and the minute the song that was currently playing ended, hers came on.

“Oh boy,” he said. “This was you.”

“Let’s go,” she said.“Shut Up And Dance”was playing.

Carson was easily dragged onto the floor, many looking on. He put both her hands in his and yanked her close so that she bumped into his chest and let out a little gasp. “You’re going to get the surprise,” he said.

The next thing she knew he was stepping back and the two of them were dancing like a couple is meant to do, him bringing her close, spinning and them moving together like they’d practiced this for years.

Multiple other couples joined them by the time the words stating “this woman is my destiny” were sung.

The bride and groom were out there too, along with most of the married couples. Hudson and Delaney, Ava and Seth. Avery even managed to bring Carter on the floor though they weren’t moving as much as some of the other couples.

When the music ended, everyone was laughing, Carson turning and dipping her. “Guess I won’t be marking this off my list then, huh?”

He kissed her hard on the lips and pulled her up. “I don’t know any line dances. I’m sure one will come on and you’ll get your chance.”

He walked off the floor leaving her there laughing. Many men left too, but the women stayed and all danced together.

Hours later, they were in Carson’s car, her shoes back on her feet, but she was exhausted.

“That had to be the most fun wedding I’ve ever been to.”

“Believe it or not, that was the wildest of the weddings we’ve had. I mean people always dance but not like that and not that fast. I’d have to say you set the tone.”

“Hope that was okay,” she said. She never worried about those things.

“Are you kidding me? People are going to be talking about that wedding for years to come. The firemen and their spouses were a riot and maybe they needed to know they could loosen up in the Bond family.”

“It’s not like your family is stuffy,” she said. Though she could see where many might feel that way.

“I don’t think so, but not everyone knows us as well.”

“I had a great time,” she said. “And we are going to cap it off the right way.”
