“Four…”

A low hum vibrates through the structure, suggesting movement.

But to where?

“Three…”

My heart races. There’s no escape, no savior. This is our grim reality.

“Two…”

A silent prayer escapes my lips to anyone, anything that might be listening.

“One…”

I brace for an explosion, an implosion, something.

“Launch.”

The word reverberates, followed by a jolt so forceful it steals my breath. My pod detaches, hurling me against the glass.

Disoriented, I struggle to comprehend what’s happening. Through the glass, a colossal ship looms, a dark, menacing silhouette against the backdrop of stars.

We’re in space — the realization strikes me with terror and wonder. My pod, alongside the others, propels away from the ship, plunging into the vastness of space.

Questions whirl in my mind — where are we going? What are we doing here? And one, more terrifying than all the others:

Why?

But there are no answers, only the silent expanse of the cosmos and distant stars that gaze upon us with indifferent eyes.

As the ship recedes into the void, I understand this is merely the beginning. I can only pray I’ll reach the end.

M’ijel

“Ten…” The voice echoes, distant and otherworldly.

My head spins, and my vision is blurred by the disorientation. I’m trapped inside a glass pod, its walls suffocatingly close.

The cacophony of growls and screams breaks through my confusion, a chilling soundtrack to my disarray. A scent hangs in the air, distinctly female, tantalizing yet elusive amidst the chaos clouding my senses.

Memories flash — the last thing I recall before waking up in this place. A fierce battle between alien races, the clash and roar of combat. Then, a deafening boom, followed by a descending curtain of green mist over the battlefield, shrouding everything in obscurity.

And after that… darkness.

Now, I find myself here, in this surreal, unknown place. My mind races, struggling to piece together the fragmented reality.

“Nine…” The relentless countdown continues, indifferent to the turmoil churning within me.

My eyes dart around, seeking anything familiar in this alienenvironment. But all I find are other pods, each cradling a creature more bizarre than the last, a menagerie of the unknown.

“Eight…”

Suddenly, yellow gas starts seeping into my pod from above. Panic surges, a primal instinct to escape, but I’m trapped, with nowhere to hide. The gas surrounds me, a toxic cloud suffocating every attempt to evade its grasp.

“Seven…”

Inevitably, I breathe in. Agony ignites in my body, a pain so intense it feels as though my very essence is being torn apart and reformed. It’s a maelstrom of suffering, overwhelming and all-consuming.
