I close her door, jog around to the driver’s side, and climb behind the wheel. I smile over at her, taking her in. She’s wearing a pair of dark, tight blue jeans and a maroon sweater. It’s still chilly out today, and I wonder if she’s warm enough. I reach over and crank up the heat as I pull away from the curb.

“You look beautiful,” I tell her as we drive out of town and towards Rosewood.

“Thanks. I wasn’t sure what we were doing or how dressed up I should be.”

“You’re perfect,” I assure her.

I make the turn towards Rosewood and she stares with wide eyes out the window.

“Where are we going?” She asks, staring at the passing scenery.

“I found this restaurant in Rosewood that I think you’ll like.”

“I’ve never been to Rosewood,” she mentions, and I smile.

I like the thought of showing her around and experiencing something for the first time with her.

“It’s a lot like Wolf Valley. A small town, but it’s a little bigger than Wolf Valley. We can look around if you’d like,” I offer.

“Maybe.”

The sun is already starting to set as we drive down the main street, and I decide to do a pass so that she can see all of the shops before I head back towards Pasha, the Mediterranean restaurant.

“I love Greek food!” Mira says as soon as she sees me park outside of the restaurant.

“I know,” I say before I can think better of it.

She frowns over at me and I scramble to think of an excuse, but I don’t want to lie to her. I’m all in with Mira. Maybe it’s about time that she knows that.

“I’ve seen you looking at a lot of recipes on your phone,” I admit, and she blinks.

“Oh.”

I climb out of the Jeep and go around to her side to open her door for her. She smiles at me distractedly, her eyes looking at Pasha and the shops on either side of it.

I place my hand on the small of her back and lead her over to the door and inside. It feels so good to be touching Mira like this, so natural, so I decide to leave my hand there as we head to the hostess and check in.

“Right this way,” she says, and we follow her towards a table in the back of the restaurant.

The place is just as nice as it looked in the pictures online. There are plants hanging down and covering the back wall where the bar is. Murals of the ocean and beaches cover the other three walls, and I slow my pace when I see Mira staring wide-eyed at the paintings.

We reach the table, and I pull out Mira’s chair for her, then sit down across from her. The hostess hands us our menus and Mira smiles her thanks at her as she heads back up front.

“Have you ever been to Greece?” I ask her, and she laughs like the idea is crazy.

“I wish!”

I file that information away for later, already imagining taking her there.

Maybe for our honeymoon…

“Is that your dream vacation?” I ask, and she nods.

“I’d love to go there, but there’s so many places I’d like to see someday.”

“Do you like traveling?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t done much of it.”
