When Titan and I had gone over his statement, I had stayed away from asking him any personal questions. The goal had been to write up a statement for the media, and that’s what we’d done. We hadn’t had a lot of time to draft something up, so we had spent the time that we’d had coming up with a statemen that he had shot to shit anyway. I’d also had to hold my other clients’ hands as I had passed them on to other agents, Titan being the priority.

“I have no idea,” he answered truthfully. “The obvious reason would be money, but that would only work if I was actually the father of her baby, which I’m not.”

“So, fame?”

“I can’t think of anything else.” He shrugged noncommittedly. “Right now, the woman is trending like a motherfucker, and according to Evan’s private detective, her followers have tripled, and she’s all over social media now.”

I leaned back in my seat. “But she has to know that she’s going to become the most hated woman in this city once the truth comes out.”

Titan shrugged again. “Maybe not,” he replied. “She can always clean up her mess by claiming that she really thought the baby was mine.”

He was right.

“But we both know that sheknowsthat she’s lying.”

Titan’s blue eyes regarded me seriously. “Maybe this is my penance for sleeping around.”

Before I could say anything to that, the waiter appeared at our table with our orders. We wisely kept our mouths shut as he placed our dinners before us, asking us if we needed anything more before he went about his way. It was hard not to smile at how nervous he’d been, but it was better than some waitress flashing Titan her breasts for an autograph.

Once the waiter was safely out of earshot, I asked, “What penance? You’re single, Titan. You can sleep with whoever you want.”

“Iwassingle,” he corrected, and I could only roll my eyes. “Still, I could have been more considerate when dealing with-”

“Were you honest about your intentions?” I asked, cutting him off. “Were you honest about what was going to happen the next morning?”

Titan nodded. “Of course.”

“Then their hurt feelings are on them,” I said as I reached for my napkin. “Your only obligation in this world is to be decent and honest, Titan. If Rachel really is just a woman scorned because you didn’t call her the next day, then that’s on her.”

His brows lifted a bit. “You sound very passionate about the topic.”

I let out a deep breath. “I just…I hate when people act like victims when they’re the ones at fault. If you tell the women in your life-”

“You’re the only woman in my life, Lux.”

“-the truth, then they’re hardly victims if they still choose to go into the situation knowing the facts.”

Titan placed his own napkin over his lap. “Well, whatever those women can say, I’ve been celibate for the past three months, so my sins stop there.”

“What kind of person ruins another person’s life for goddamn followers,” I grumbled as I started stabbing at my steak.

“Everyone that’s been raised to believe that social media is the ultimate validation of their life,” he replied before taking a bite of his own rib-eye.

Unfortunately, an entire generation was being raised to believe that it was normal to publicize their personal lives. While I had nothing against social media, I appreciated privacy more than I did popularity. I preferred to have the special moments in my life be private and shared with my family only. The last thing that I wanted was for strangers to believe that they had a right to those moments.

“Can I ask you a personal question?” I asked, even knowing that I probably didn’t have the right after being so sourly with him.

“You can ask me anything, baby,” he replied, making my stomach flutter again.

“There were no public pictures of any of your friends’ weddings,” I said. “Why?”

“We all feel the same about our privacy,” he answered. “Plus, Raven, Orion, and Sebastian are very protective over their wives. The last thing that they’d ever do is share their private moments with their wives with the general public.”

“Lots of people and fans were outraged about that,” I stated.

“Yes, they were,” he agreed. “However, there’d been a lot of people that had defended their right to privacy, so it evens out. It also helps that Esme, Sinclair, and Sparkly aren’t trying to be social media personalities.”

“Sparkly?”
