I turned to look at her, cursing Sebastian. The woman looked like she’d be the ideal one-night stand, and my dick was noticing it, too. She was a redhead with green eyes, and though it was easy to see that all her parts were store-bought, I was okay with lip fillers, fake tits, and all that other shit. After all, I wasn’t looking for a wife. What did I care if her plastic surgery bill was more than her mortgage?

“Thanks,” I replied.

She jerked her head towards my teammates and their little party of ten. “Why aren’t you sitting with your friends?”

“I’m just down here to have a drink,” I informed her, my dick angry as fuck at me.

Her fake lips looked bigger as she pouted. “Not up to celebrating with friends?”

“I’m good,” I semi-lied.

She ran a fake nail down my arm. “I know a way that you can be great.”

“Can I get you something?” We both looked over at the bartender. “We have a couple of specials tonight-”

“I’ll take a gin and tonic,” she answered, cutting him off. “Your best gin, please.”

Up until that moment, I would have paid for her drink. However, it was tacky as fuck to order top-shelf when expecting someone else to pay for it. Could I afford it? Absolutely. Still, that wasn’t the point. Whatever this woman was about, it was obvious that she was used to getting men to pay her way, and that wasn’t me. I had no problem paying the tab if a good time was being had by all, butexpectingme to pay for it was something entirely different.

Downing the rest of my whiskey, I stood up, taking out my wallet. “Well, have a good night,” I told her as I flagged the bartender down.

Her green eyes widened. “What? You’re leaving?”

I nodded, then looked over at the bartender. “Thanks, man. Keep the change.”

His eyes lit up as he took the hundred-dollar bill for only two drinks. “Thank you.”

“Are you really leaving?” she repeated as the bartender slid her drink in front of her. “Seriously?”

I nodded again. “It’s past my bedtime, and I have an early flight to catch in the morning.”

“What about your friends?” she huffed. “Don’t they have the same plane to catch?”

“I’m sure that they do,” I agreed. “However, I’m not their babysitter.”

“YouareTitan Miller, right?”

That made my back straighten. “Yeah, and?”

She bristled a bit. “You’re supposed to be a sure thing.”

Once upon a time, I had been. Once upon a time, I would have had this woman sucking my dick in the hotel restroom already. Once upon a time, I would have had her call over a couple of more friends. Once upon a time, I would have been sitting at the same table as the others, my fingers already underneath some woman’s skirt, not giving one damn that we were in public. Athlete chasers had no shame, so there wasn’t much that was off-limits with them.

“On the field, I am,” I told her. “Off the field, people can think what they want of me. However, rumors are not truth.”

Not taking the hint, she asked, “So, you’re really just going to leave me here?”

“I’m notleavingyou anywhere,” I pointed out. “Since you didn’t come here with me, how in the fuck can I beleavingyou here?”

“You’re an asshole,” she huffed, clearly taking the rejection personally.

“I’m fine with that,” I said before turning to head back up to my hotel room.

As I passed the table of debauchery, Kerry called out to me. “Yo, Miller? Where you going?”

“Time for bed, boys,” I replied easily, throwing them a peace sign.

“Oh, c’mon,” Alonzo whined. “Don’t you want to meet our new friends.”
