“Lower your voice,” I hissed. “You’re going to cause a scene.”

He gave me a pointed look. “Because you think that I give a fuck about causing a scene?”

“Titan-”

“What the fuck are you doing here, Lux?”

“Whoa, man,” Jalen said, trying to save me. “This is just a business dinner.”

Eyeing me, Titan asked, “Since when do you have‘business’dinners?”

“Since all the time,” I continued to hiss. “Not sure if you know this or not, but athletes have hectic schedules, so there are times when I have to make my hours flexible.”

“Don’t fuck with me, Lux,” he warned. “I’m not the one right now.”

“Look, man,” Jalen chimed in again. “Seriously, this is just a business dinner.”

Titan glared over at him. “Did I fucking ask you?”

“Titan Miller,” I snapped like a mother to her bratty child. “Knock it off.”

“Get your shit, Lux,” he ordered. “We’re leaving.”

“I amnotleaving,” I bit out. “I am working, Titan.”

“In case you haven’t noticed, people have their phones out, baby,” he said. “So, if you want to do this here, then I’m good with that.”

I took a quick look around, and he wasn’t wrong. Jalen and I had done our best to fly under the radar when we had booked our reservations, but Titan was doing nothing to hide his celebrity. Right now, he really didn’t care about causing a scene, and that was the last thing that we needed. After all the confessions today, Titan was riding on a win, so the last thing that he needed was to ruin that.

“Uhm, maybe we should reschedule,” Jalen suggested graciously.

“Yeah,” Titan drawled out. “Preferably during office hours.”

“Titan,” I hissed.

“I’m not giving a fuck right now, Lux,” he said seriously. “This is your last warning.”

“You’re being a dick.”

“Again, not giving a fuck right now,” he repeated.

I finally looked back over at Jalen. “I’m so sorry.”

Jalen had the grace to chuckle a bit. “No need. Honestly.”

“Can we reschedule?”

He nodded. “Of course.”

Looking back up at Titan, I made a demand of my own. “Before we leave, you’re going to sit down, shake Jalen’s hand, then pretend like we’re one big happy family for five minutes.” I scooted over, giving Titan some room in the booth. “If anything unfavorable is printed tomorrow, there will be hell to pay, Titan Miller. Since I’m having a business dinner with Jalen, you can probably guess that he already has enough on his plate without adding your crazy to it.”

To my surprise, Titan sat down, and Jalen grinned as Titan reached his arm out to shake Jalen’s hand. Just then, the waitress came back with our food, and her eyes widened when she noticed Titan. Jalen had kept his head down a lot, doing his best to avoid attention, but Titan had just ruined all of his efforts by being a jackass.

“Oh, uhm…can…do you need a menu-”

“I’m good,” Titan said, grinning up at her, though his voice still sounded tight. “I’m just crashing their business dinner.”

“Uhm…I can get you some water or-”
