When I was finally done, he pulled back to look down at me. “Feel better?”

I knew that I looked a mess, but I didn’t care. “I don’t know,” I answered honestly.

“I’ll hold you until you do,” he vowed, and I hated how I could feel myself weakening. How could love make you feel so weak and powerful at the same time?

“I don’t know what to do,” I confessed. “I’m so confused.”

“Let me love you,” he advised. “Just let me love you, and I promise that you’ll never regret it.”

I felt exhausted.

I felt exhausted and confused.

“I told you once that you’d never get a second chance with me,” I reminded him.

“I know, baby,” he replied softly. “But if it helps, I’ll put it in our prenup that you get it all if I ever hurt your feelings again.”

Unbelievably, that made me laugh. “I’m serious, Orion.”

“And you think that I’m not?” he retorted. “Baby, I’ve never been more serious.”

Letting out a heavy sigh, I said, “I want to go home.”

“Not until you agree to marry me,” he said, producing a tired laugh from me. “I meant it, Sinclair. We’re not leaving this room until you say you’re mine.”

I eyed him. “You know everyone is going to think that I’m only with you because you blackmailed me into giving you another chance, right?”

He smirked. “As long as we know the truth, everyone else can think what they want.”

“And what’s the truth?”

“That I love you, and that you love me enough to give me a second chance.” He looked so serious when he added, “I need you to love me more than you loved Cap Aldrich.”

Chapter 29

Orion~

Inever imagined that those would be the magic words, but as soon as I’d said them, I saw the change in her face. No matter how badly I fucked up, I wasn’t Cap Aldrich, and she had to know this.

“Cap came to see me at work today,” she announced, making my back straighten.

“What?”

“I’m not sure what he’s doing in town, but he came by my office,” she went on.

“What did he want?” I was doing my best to keep my voice calm, but I could feel the blood in my veins burning hot.

“To apologize for goading you,” she answered.

I crossed my arms over my chest as I glowered down at her. “Is that all?”

Sinclair let out a quiet sigh. “He also wanted to let me know that he was still in love with me.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I growled. “Isn’t the fucker married?”

She nodded. “Yep.”

My arms dropped to my sides. “I’m going to fucking kill him.”
