The sports bar he’s talking about is only a block from campus. It’s huge, and has an arcade, pool tables, dart boards, and a ton of giant TVs. It’s a favorite hangout for students.

“It’ll be packed on a game night,” I say.

“That just makes it more fun.”

“Sounds good to me,” Sean says. “Let’s do it.”

“You coming with?” Leo says to Rob.

“If I’m invited,” he says to me.

“Yeah, of course. Let’s go now so we can get a table.”

I’m surprised Leo wanted Rob to come with us. Rob’s one of those rich college kids Leo and Sean are always putting down. But Rob’s actually a really nice guy. He’s not at all snobby, and I’ve never felt like he looks down on me for not having money.

We decide to walk to the sports bar since it isn’t far. On the way there, I talk to Sean while Leo talks to Rob. I never would’ve imagined those two would have anything to talk about, but they don’t shut up the whole way there.

“This place is awesome,” Sean says as we sit down at the table. “Leo, check out the size of that TV.” He points to the one above the bar. It’s so big, it’s more like a movie screen.

“We might have to come back here on a weekend,” Leo says. “Just hang out and watch games all day.”

The waitress stops at our table. “Can I start you boys off with a drink?”

We all order soda. I told Sean and Leo to not even try using their fake IDs. The places around here can easily spot one and will take it from you and report it to the cops.

“The waitress is hot,” Leo says, watching her take an order at another table.

“A lot of the girls here are hot,” Sean says as three girls wearing black leggings and cropped shirts walk past our table. “Shit, check out the ass on that girl.” He licks his lips.

“Okay, calm down,” I say, laughing at him. “We’re here to watch the game.”

“I can watch the game and check out girls at the same time.” Sean looks over at Rob. “You got a girlfriend?”

“No. I’ve been on some dates, but it didn’t go anywhere.”

“Same here,” Leo says. “I was dating this girl I met at work, but she ghosted me after a couple dates.”

“Are you talking about Marie?” I ask Leo.

“Yeah, but it’s fine. We didn’t really get along.”

“How can she ghost you if you see her at work?”

“She doesn’t work there. She had dinner there with her friends. I met her when I was clearing their table.”

“She hasn’t been back since,” Sean says.

“What about Liz?”

Sean shrugs. “Haven’t heard from her. I didn’t really like her, so I’m good with not seeing her again.”

The waitress brings our drinks. “Are you guys having the burger special?”

“What’s that?” Sean asks.

“Thursday night, all burgers are five dollars. It includes fries.”

We all order the special, and when the waitress leaves, Sean says to me, “Why didn’t you tell us about this place? Five-dollar burgers? I pay more than that for fast food.”
