I smile as I shake my head. “What’s the plan?”

THIRTEEN

HARLEY

“THIS IS AMAZING,” my digital media design professor comments as she stops in front of my desk. She indicates at my iPad. “May I?”

I nod, leaning back in my chair and stretching my arms behind me as she picks it up, studying my design carefully.

“The contrast of the colours in the logo really pop against the dark geometric background. It’s simple, yet sophisticated and meets the design brief perfectly. You really have a good eye for detail, Harley.”

“Thanks.”

She smiles as she passes the iPad back to me and moves on to another student.

“I’d like to pop against her geometric background,” Robbo mutters, leaning into me as his predatory gaze follows her across the room. “Mmm… what I wouldn’t do to run my tongue all over that tight ass.”

I snort, elbowing him in the guts to move him out of myspace. “Down, boy. She’s our professor; that shit’s illegal.”

He runs his tongue over his top teeth, still staring unabashedly at our teacher while he reaches under the desk to adjust himself. The guy has no fucking shame. “That just makes it even hotter. Fuck me, I didn’t think I could get any harder.”

I groan. “Dude, I don’t want to think about your boner while I’m sitting this close to you. Put it on ice. I’m sure Tamika wouldn’t be impressed to hear you talking about boning other women.”

He shrugs. “We’ve been talking about opening up the bedroom, getting a little adventurous. Meeks is curious about what it would be like being with another woman. I wonder if Professor Hannaford would be interested.”

“What the fuck?” I choke out a little too loudly, and our professor narrows her eyes from across the room. “Sorry,” I mutter, ducking my head while the horny douchebag sitting next to me just chuckles quietly. “Christ, Robbo. A bit of warning before you spring that shit on me. Far out.”

He leans back in his chair, hands resting behind his head as he studies me. I squirm in my seat. “I wouldn’t mind watching Meeks get it on with someone. Have you been with anyone since Ellie?”

My jaw goes slack. “Are you serious, dude? I’m not sleeping with your girlfriend. Especially not with you in the room.”

“Right, that’s all we have time for today,” Professor Hannaford says from the front of the room. “Don’t forgetyour assignments are due next week.”

I breathe a sigh of relief, slipping my iPad into my bag and hightailing it out of the room before Robbo gets any more hair-brained ideas. In my rush to get out of the room, I crash into Ivy and Conrad.

“Where’s the fire?” Ivy asks, cracking a grin.

“Don’t ask,” I say, falling into step next to her. “What are you guys doing in the Art department?”

“Meeting Wren at the photography lab. We’re going to Patty’s to grab a bite to eat. You done for today? Want to join us?”

I glance at Conrad, who is staying quiet. Things are still strained between the two of us, and the last thing I want to do is hang out with him, but Lily’s working, and I get a warm feeling in my stomach at the thought of seeing her before I have to meet Zeke at the gym later. “Yeah, sure. Count me in.”

“How’s the training going?” Conrad asks.

“Good.”

“When’s your next fight?”

“Not sure.”

Ivy elbows me in the ribs, and I glare at her. What more does she want? I’m answering the guy’s questions. I have my next fight next week–the day before my birthday–but I haven’t told anyone except Lily because I don’t want them coming to watch me. The only reason Lily knows is because she was with me when Steve called, and I swore her to secrecy.

I’m saved by Wren waiting for us outside the photography labs, a big grin on her face. “Guess what?” she squeaks out when she spots us.

“What?” Her excitement is contagious, and I can’t help the smile tugging on the corner of my lips.

“Axle Reid has selected me as one of the students to have a mini exhibit at his next show in Byron Bay!”
