Lachy fumbles in his pocket and pulls out his keys. He unlocks the car, and I toss it in the boot. We’re halfway back to the warehouse when I tug Lachy to a stop. “What if Declan’s waiting for me?”

“The fights would be nearly over. They would have had to move him. This car park is about to get real busy.”

I bite my bottom lip. “So, how are we going to find him?”

“Look around.” Lachy spreads his arms at the empty warehouses around us. “They’re not going far.”

People start pouring out of the warehouse. Lachy’s right–Harley’s no longer in there. If he was, someone would have raised an alarm of him having been knocked out by now. There’s no chance of pushing our way back in there to find Zeke, so we watch the door carefully, waiting for him to come to us and praying that there’s not another way out.

The longer we wait, the more my chest tightens to the point where I feel like I’m going to implode. Declan’s not a patient man, and if he doesn’t get what he wants soon–me–then I know he’ll start taking out his anger on Harley.

Finally, I spot Zeke through the crowd, and I tug Lachy after me as I race over to him.

“We need your help,” I rush out when we reach him.

His eyes widen at the sight of us. “What’s going on? Where’s Harley?”

“He’s in trouble.”

“What do you mean?”

I swallow around the lump in my throat. “My ex has him. We need your help to find him before he kills him.”

He curses. “Of course I’ll help. What do you need me to do?”

Lachy looks at me as he speaks to Zeke. “Do you have a weapon?”

Zeke glances around making sure no one is paying any attention to us. “I have a gun in my car.”

Lachy nods as if satisfied. “You’re going to need to get it. Lily, you go with Zeke, I’m going to find Tom and get the other matter sorted.” He locks eyes with Zeke. “You guard her life with yours. Nothing happens to her.”

“Stay safe,” I tell him, pulling him in for a hug.

He slips me mine and Harley’s phones as we pull apart, a grim look on his face. “You, too.”

FORTY-FOUR

LACHY

LEAVING LILY DOESN’T sit right, but at least Zeke is armed and knows how to fight. I watch them head across the parking lot, presumably to Zeke’s car, until they disappear in the crowd then I turn back to face the warehouse.

I mutter a curse under my breath as I scan the area, trying to figure out my next move. I need to find Tom, pay off his debts. How the hell did Harley and Tom get themselves in this situation?

Just as I’m about to pull my phone out and call Jordan and Brady for back-up, I spot Tom in the sea of faces. I start pushing through the throng of people to get to him. Grabbing him roughly by the shoulder, I grit out, “Where the hell were you?”

Relief flashes in his eyes when he realises it’s me. “I’ve been looking for Harley. Where did you guys go after his fight? Roman’s pissed, he thinks we’re trying to play him. He’s given us until four AM to get him his money.”His gaze darts over my shoulder and frowns. “Where is he? Where’s Lily?”

I sigh and rub a hand over my face. “Lily’s with Zeke. They’ve gone to find Harley.”

His eyes narrow. “What do you mean, ‘gone to find Harley’? What the hell happened?”

“Roman’s not the only bad guy after you guys tonight.”

Tom shoves me. “Stop talking in riddles, Rossi. Where the fuck is my brother?”

“Lily’s ex showed up. Turns out he’s the Irish gangland leader. He didn’t take too kindly to Harley touching what’s his.”

Blood drains from his face. “I knew she was hiding something, but how the hell did he find her?”
