I’m tempted to tell him to ask Alison to do it, but I know he wants to enjoy his time with our son, and I think he already told Alison to take the afternoon off.

I look at the clock on the wall. “Do you really think it’ll take a few hours to get him to go to sleep?”

He gives me a look. Tyler has been fighting going down for naps.

I raise an eyebrow. “Regretting telling Alison to take the afternoon off?”

He smiles. “Not a chance. Get another drink, read a book, relax. That’s an order.”

I mock salute him. “Yes, boss.”

Tyler babbles a few incoherent words and Aaron looks at me. “See, he agrees. Mama needs to relax, and we’ll have some father–son time. Yes we will!”

My heart feels full. I’m still in shock that this is my life now.

I dry myself off and put a beach dress over my bikini. I realize it’s the same beach dress I wore the day we went out on the water in The Bahamas.

Everything feels so nostalgic being here. We’ve been here a few times since we got together, but not since Tyler was born.

The first time we came back, we visited all the spots we had previously. Nathan was thrilled to see us and said he knew we’d end up together.

I told him how Aaron was ready to rip his head off when he thought Nathan was flirting with me.

He laughed and turned Aaron and asked him how he didn’t know he was gay? He said he thought he told him years ago.

They laughed about it and Nathan admitted that he purposefully made sure there was only one ATV left the day we were here.

He was hoping we’d get together.

Laying on the lounge chair with a book and a cocktail, I think about how I imagined doing exactly this when I first visited. I never thought I’d be back.

I snuggle into the chair and time slips away as I get lost in my book.

Aaron comes down and sweeps me out of my seat. I gasp at the sudden proximity of our bodies.

I smile. “Well, hello.”

My pulse races as his hands trace up my body.

He smiles and kisses me.

I kiss him back and it feels like the world disappears.

Every time we kiss is like the first time. It feels electric. It makes my heart race and my knees weak.

Aaron breaks our kiss, his hands on either side of my face. “I love you.”

I giggle. “I love you too.”

“You don’t get it. I love you so much it makes me heart ache. When you look at me it feels like I’m home.”

My heart flutters at his words. I kiss him and my entire body ignites.

Aaron breaks out of our kiss before I can deepen it. “I feel like I have so much to say. From the moment we met, this has felt like a dream. I never imagined someone as amazing as you would want someone like me. I’m so happy with our life and our family, and I’ve known I was going to do this for a long time.”

He gets down on one knee.

My hands go to my face. Oh my God. I can’t believe this is happening.
