“Is it going to affect camp opening on Monday?”

“No. It might delay the horseback riding. But we can find plenty of things to do inside until it dries out a little.”

“Good. We’ve made it through this week. But it’s been challenging. I’ve had kids here all week. Olivia has them today, though.”

“So, muffins.”

“Right.”

“I’ll take a dozen. And I like them all, so give me a variety.”

“You got it.” He took a big box from the shelf behind him and started filling it with muffins.

“Have you thought about the campout?”

“Yeah. I’d like to come. In fact, the kids insist on it.”

“Good. It should be fun.”

He finished filling the box and closed the lid. “The gossip about your brother has reached me. That’s quite a situation.”

“Yeah. But he’s handling it well. And little Finn is great.”

“Is he coming to camp?”

Sage shook her head. “Oh my gosh. I never even thought about telling Joey about it. It’d give her some free time to work on the house.”

“I heard it’s going to be a bed-and-breakfast.”

“Yeah. Eventually. The house needs a lot of work. I volunteered to help her. And I’m sure J.T. will pitch in.”

Xander slid the box toward her. “Here you go.”

“How much do I owe you?”

“Nothing.”

“Xander. When I suggested you pay me back in muffins, I meant a couple here and there. Not a dozen of them.”

“They’re not going to sell today. And tomorrow they’ll be a day old. Please take them.”

She sighed. “Okay. Thank you. At this rate, you’ll pay for camp in no time.”

“I don’t like owing anybody anything.”

“You don’t owe me.”

“Still.”

She picked up the box. “Thank you. And I will see you and the kids Monday morning.”

“They’re looking forward to it.”

“As am I.”

“Stay dry this weekend.”

“I intend to.” She headed for the door. “Bye.”
