I shook my head and laughed as I turned around to face my sister.

“She’s my favorite human in the whole wide world,” Charlotte giggled. “I’m so glad she called Dalton Dolly in front of the guys he works with. He’s never going to live that down.”

“Glad my girl could be of service.” I reached out and took her hands in mine. “I’m so thankful I’m here. And we get to celebrate this big day together.”

“I am too, honey,” she whispered, pulling me into a hug. “I spent twenty years missing you.”

“Same, but now we get to spend the next twenty making up for lost time.”

We separated, and she beamed at me. “I really like the sound of that. And hopefully one day soon, we’ll be able to switch roles. You’ll be the bride and I’ll be the matron of honor.”

I didn’t have to say anything. She could read my face clear as day that I loved the idea of that.

Sniffling back the happy tears, I waved at my face and declared, “All right, enough mushy stuff. Let’s get you married.”

After one last hug, I moved to the doors, clutching my bouquet in my hands and waiting for my cue.

As soon as the door opened, I stepped out onto the aisle, my eyes going straight to the altar at the front.

To where Trent stood. Holding my little girl in my arms.

He gave me that dimpled grin, mouthing the words, “I love you,” down the aisle.

Oh yeah, I thought as I started toward them, the love I felt for them pouring out of me. I couldn’t wait for the day my sister and I got to switch roles.

The End.
