“Out of all the faces, you remembered mine?” I gasped, tears staining my cheeks. When did I start to cry? “Some random girl, that was simply putting her hair up?”

“I’m right? It was you!”

“Yes, I had to change my hair tie. The other one was too loose. Using the reflection from the window, I put my hair back up. I had no idea anyone was behind it, though. Let alone Alex freaking Harbour!”

“You were even more beautiful when you finally stood in front of me in that hotel suite. All I wanted to do was release your hair, to see those soft ringlets fall down your shoulders.” Swallowing hard, I tried to take it all in. “Are you angry that I didn’t tell you sooner?” Was I? If Alex had told me this story the moment I met him, I would have laughed in his face, thinking it was a chat-up line he used on all the females. “I’ve wanted to tell you so many times, but the longer I left it, the more awkward it became.”

“The obsession with me letting my hair down? You meant it literally?” Alex gave me a lazy smirk. “You might have gotten me into your bed quicker if you’d told me this a few months after I’d moved to LA.”

“I was in love with you then and not sure if I was a man who truly deserved you. If you remember, you were still pinning for that fucker, David.”

“You might have just told me the most romantic story I’ve ever heard,” I sighed, moving to straddle him on the sofa. “If I had known you were there, I would have placed my hand on the glass and told you everything was going to be okay. That Ness…what happened with her wasn’t your fault. That you’ve always been a man capable of loving me.” Alex leaned up, capturing my lips with his. We kissed, long and hard. I clung to him, pouring all my love into that kiss.

“That’s why I believe it’s all about timing with having a child,” Alex breathed against my lips. “You came back into my life at the right time. Out of all the PA’s in the whole world, you showed up…my one minute daydream of a normal life that had happened over ten years ago. I had to pinch myself that I wasn’t dreaming, that you were real. For so long, I wondered if I’d imagined you. How old were you back then? At the concert?”

“Eighteen,” I chuckled. “I was legal. It’s fine.”

“What were the odds that I got to see you again? It could only be one thing…fate.”

“I never had you down as the romantic type.” I giggled as Alex trickled me. “Okay, okay, you’re very romantic!”

“Only for you, baby.” We’d just had a fill of each other, and I was burning for him again.

“We’ll give it some time,” I whispered against his lips. “I’ll heal, and then we’ll leave it up to fate. If we’re meant to have a living child, it will happen. Right now, all I want to do is live my life with the man I am madly, wildly, endlessly in love with.”

“He’s pretty smitten with you, too,” Alex breathed, pulling me flush against his body before crashing his lips to mine.

It seemed I wasn’t going to get another reading from his book right now, after all. Alex lifted me off the sofa. I was already pulling my dress up and over my body. When my back hit the mattress, Alex pulled his slacks off, his erection springing free. Licking my lips, I challenged him.

“I’ll let you put your sexy mouth on me later. Right now, my cock needs this again.” His hand cupped my sex through my leggings. We’d fucked less than an hour ago. What this man did to me!

After pulling my leggings and panties off, Alex rolled me onto my stomach in one swift motion, quickly removing my bra. His hand stroked my sex, practically hissing at how wet I still was.

His lips grazed my ear lobe as he pulled me up into place, his tip teasing my entrance. “I want you to moan as loud as you can. The louder you moan, the harder I’ll fuck this pussy.”

And so I moaned. Moaned loud enough to fill the entire cabin with our pleasure. Once Alex was finished, I moved on top of him, kissing every inch of him until he became aroused again. It never took long, Alex’s stamina and need for me always amazed me.

“What are you planning to do to me, Straight Lace?” Alex had a bemused smile on his face, gazing up as I ran my nails down his chest toward his navel.

“Oh, I have a few ideas,” I grinned, wickedly.

It was his turn to groan.

Chapter Fourteen

I could hardly keep my eyes open in the morning. I was so tired. We’d spent the entire evening exploring each other, embracing in a silence that told us everything was going to be okay. That I was going to be okay. If Alex could fight his demons, so could I.

After breakfast, we went for another walk in the forest. Alex seemed lighter, almost child-like as we weaved between the trees. This place was magical, with a carpet of moss and lichen around all the branches. I half expected to find a fairy or magical beast lurking deep in the forest.

“This place really is something else,” I mused with my hands on my hips. “How do you manage to not get us lost?”

Alex shook his head at me. “I can read a map, you know.”

“You don’t have a map on you right now,” I pointed out.

“I’ve done this route a few times. There’s something I want to show you.” It was hard not to follow him, seeing the excited gleam in his eyes.

It felt as if we were deep in the forest now. When I started to hear water in the distance, I looked over at Alex. Was it another lake? It sounded more like running water to me, but I wasn’t exactly an outdoorsy person. When we reached the end of the forest, my eyes fell upon the source of the sound. The most beautiful waterfall cascaded down the side of the mountain, taking my breath away.
