Alex dropping to his knees, kissing my baby bump made the most beautiful picture that was shared worldwide. The entire stadium erupted that night, clapping their hands and cheering.
Maisy Milly Harbour arrived a week early on a sunny February morning. When Alex held her for the first time, gently singing My Girl, it gave me a whole new meaning to the word love. This little bundle had survived, and although she didn’t replace the little angels we had lost, Maisy gave us purpose and love…so much love.
“Mummy! Come on!” Maisy huffed, crossing her arms in annoyance. “Daddy needs to throw you now!”
“Mummy might not want to be thrown, Maisy.” Alex chuckled, watching me move toward them. His eyes looked at me lovingly.
“Maybe we can splash her instead!” Maisy called, waving her hands excitedly.
“Not if I splash you first!” I teased as the three of us began to play and splash each other. Maisy tried to hide behind me as Alex roared, pretending to be the Loch Ness Monster.
“Mummy! It’s going to get me!” She giggled, clinging to me.
“Quick, swim for the shore. I’ll fight it to save you!” Maisy was already a good swimmer and quickly paddled away. I felt Alex’s arms encircle me from behind as we watched her.
“I love you,” Alex sighed against my ear. “You know that mountain we used to talk about?”
“The metaphoric one?” I smirked, feeling his lips against my neck.
“I’ve reached the summit, and the view is mesmerising. There are stars as far as my eyes can see.” He made it sound so beautiful. “I never thought I’d get a life like this.”
“It’s perfect. You. Are. Perfect!” I breathed as we watched Maisy run around the pool, giggling.
“She’s got that mischievous look in her eyes again.” His hands wrapped around my waist in the water, pulling me against his chest.
“Mmm…I wonder who she gets that from?” Alex laughed softly against my ear, knowing it was him!
“Cannon ball!” she squealed, jumping in and splashing us both.
Our beautiful, wild, feisty and passionate girl!
Our Wonderland had never been more perfect!
