Derrick wasn't touching his food either. "My father was emotionally abusive towards both of us. Before she escaped, my mother took her pain out on me. Once she left, she never looked back, and my father... He focused all his attention on me. There was no pleasing that man, but I still tried. For far too long. When I came out, he broke all contact with me, as I expected," Derrick said, his voice showing little emotion.

Malcolm still knew he was hurting, and his heart broke for Derrick and everything he had gone through. He reached across the table to take his hand.

"Thank you," Derrick said, squeezing his hand back. "I know you didn't have it easy with your parents either."

"I managed. While I lived with them, there was this constant pressure to be someone I wasn't, but then I was on my own. That wasn't easy, but I was free."

"And now you have Paula," Derrick said with a smile.

"She asked me all about dates, but I forgot to mention helicopters and waterfalls," Malcolm told him archly.

"Next time you'll give her a more complete answer," Derrick said with a small smirk.

"You really are spoiling me," Malcolm said then he had a thought. "How many guys have you brought here anyway?" He tried not to sound jealous, just curious but he wasn't sure he managed it because he was definitely jealous.

"Just you. I've never brought anyone here before," Derrick said.

That made Malcolm way too happy so he went back to eating to cover it up.

After the fantastic meal, they retreated to the lounge. Mellow, soulful music filled the air. It was smoky and comfortable, with plush chairs and low lighting that made everything feel intimate. They sat close and shared a drink, and Malcolm knew he was falling for this man harder than ever before.

Ready to leave, they walked out into the freezing mountain air. Malcolm noticed the hotel that was part of the resort. It looked like a chalet and only a few of its windows were lit this late at night.

"Hey, I'm surprised you didn't get us a room at the hotel," he quipped.

Derrick grinned. "After how wrong I was about you, I didn't want to rush things, but I can rectify that oversight very easily." His voice was low and seductive and he stepped closer to Malcolm.

Malcolm leaned into him, feeling a rush of emotions he was too afraid to name. Being here with Derrick, under the stars just didn't seem real.

Gazing into his eyes, Derrick stroked his face and Malcolm's chest got tight so he could hardly breathe. His feelings for Derrick overwhelmed him so fast. Derrick's arms went around his waist, and their lips met in a fiery hot kiss.

Chapter 19

Derrick canceled the helicopter ride for the night and checked them into a hotel room, and now they were going in. The room was luxurious and beautiful with a big fireplace and a big bed. There was already a fire and it went perfectly with what was outside their window. It was another view of the waterfall cascading down a snow covered cliffside.

Stopped just inside the doorway, Malcolm simply took it all in for a while. Standing beside him, Derrick took off his coat then he took off Malcolm's. "Let me warm you up," he said, his voice thick as he took Malcolm over to the fireplace.

Derrick's idea of warming him up was taking his clothes off. And he wasn't wrong. His hands set off sparks when they brushed Malcolm's skin. The more skin Derrick exposed, the more he felt like he was on fire.

Derrick was a little rough as he stripped him but then his hands swept lightly over his bare skin. Standing naked next to the fireplace, Malcolm shivered as the heat of the fireplace warmed him and the scent of smoke mixed with Derrick's cologne.

The flames of the fire danced in Derrick's eyes and Malcolm kissed him. His whole body responded instantly to Derrick's kiss and touch. He could feel the heat building between them with the intensity that overwhelmed him. He had to get Derrick naked too.

His hands were shaking only a little as he stood there naked and started to undress Derrick. Malcolm did it more slowly, enjoying the way firelight played over his perfectly muscled body.

Derrick's hands were on his ass as Malcolm unbuttoned him in slow motion. "You sure you don't want to hurry that up?"Derrick asked him and squeezed his ass so that Malcolm grunted.

He still shook his head and wouldn't let Derrick rush him even if he was so hard for him and barely keeping his lust under control. Malcolm savored every moment, the amber glow of the fire on his skin and in his dark eyes.

Feeling Derrick's body react to his touch, Malcolm spread his hands over Derrick's chest then moved them down. As the glow of the flames flickered over Derrick's sculpted physique, the heat of his body was intoxicating to Malcolm.

"Damn, you're beautiful," he breathed, brushing his lips over Derrick's chest, flicking his nipples with his tongue. Running his fingers through Malcolm's hair, Derrick only grunted. He tilted Malcolm's head back and kissed him.

Lost in the feeling, swept away by it, Malcolm didn't know how he resisted him this long. Filled with so much desire, he couldn't take it, he had to have this man right now.

Malcolm got on his knees, his face turned up, eyes locked on Derrick's. The feral look in his dark eyes thrilled him.

He followed the contours of Derrick's defined abs with his tongue then licked lower. He cupped Derrick's balls and traced the veins along the length of his cock. Derrick let out a soft grunt but Malcolm wanted to hear more.
