“Unfortunately, she didn’t succeed,” she mumbles before her eyes widen. “Oh my gosh. Don’t listen to me. Damon Bragg, Sr., was your father and he wasn’t a bad man.”

“Except for the whole philandering thing,” Damon grumbles.

She purses her lips. “You hush or you won’t be my favorite anymore.”

Damon grins. “Told you I’m the favorite.”

A woman slaps him. “Don’t be mean to your brothers.”

He wraps an arm around her shoulders before kissing her hair. “It’s not mean if it’s true.”

“Are we good?” Mrs. Bragg…er… Cox asks and I return my attention to her.

“I think so. Thank you for being understanding, Mrs. Cox.”

“You’re family. You call me Daisy.”

My heart skips a beat.Family.I’ve always wanted a family. I thought I had one with Indy but I screwed it up. I scan the room to find my girl. She’s smiling at me in encouragement. I might have messed it up once, but I’m grabbing hold of my second chance now.

“Thank you, Daisy.”

She winks before shoving me in front of her. “Let me introduce you to the rest of the family.”

She points to Damon. “You’ve already met my oldest Damon. The woman with him is his girlfriend Love. They have a daughter Skye who’s around here somewhere.”

“Hi!” Love waves and smiles in greeting.

“As you know, Elder and Miller are my oldest twins,” she says as she motions toward the two men. “Miller is engaged to Eden. She’s in the kitchen. You’ll meet her soon. And Elder’s married to Harmony. Their daughter Robin is having a nap.”

“She’s the most adorable little girl in the world,” Elder declares.

Damon grunts. “I think you mean Skye’s the most adorable girl in the world.”

“Hey,” Brody hollers. “My little one is going to be the best grandchild of them all.” He rubs the belly of the woman standing next to him.

Daisy sighs. “You’ve already met my youngest twins, Riley and Brody. Riley’s girlfriend, Moon, is supervising in the kitchen.”

“Moon as in Moon’s Diner?” I ask.

“She’s a chef,” Riley answers – the pride clear to hear in his voice.

“And this is Soleil,” Brody introduces the pregnant woman he can’t keep his hands off of.

I glance around the room at the people gathered. All of whom are somehow related to me. I’ve gone from being an orphan who had no one to having a huge family.

“I hope you don’t expect me to remember everyone’s names.”

“There’ll be a quiz later.” Daisy winks up at me. “And we’re not done yet.” She indicates Clementine.

“I’m Clementine,” she says although I already know her name. “This is my husband, Eagle.” The man next to her grunts. “I believe you’ve already met my son, Peace, and his girlfriend, Olivia.”

“I’m Indigo,” Indy says as she comes to stand next to me. “I’m this guy’s girlfriend. I’m also going to steal him away for a minute.”

“Go ahead.” Daisy motions toward the hallway. “But dinner will be ready in less than ten minutes.”

“She means you don’t have time to have sex,” Olivia explains.

“Thanks for the heads up.” I think.
