Indy leads me down the hallway to the bathroom. She shuts the door behind her and locks it.

“Are you okay?” Her hazel eyes are full of concern. And love? Dare I hope.

“I don’t know. I was just told I can’t have sex in ten minutes. I’m feeling challenged.” I lift her up on the vanity.

“We are not having sex.”

“Boring!” Olivia shouts from the hallway before marching away.

Indy cradles my face. “I’m serious. Are you okay? This is a lot for you.”

I lean my forehead against hers. Damn. I love this woman. She gets me. She knows me. In ways no one else ever has. Not even my band members who I consider my family.

“Yeah. I’m okay.” I pause before giving her more truths. She deserves all of it. “I was worried before we arrived but everyone has been friendly and Daisy doesn’t hate me.”

“Of course, she doesn’t. You’re awesome.”

“I do think my brothers are crazy.”

“Beyond crazy.” She rolls her eyes. “You ready to go back out there?”

“Not yet.”

My lips press against hers. This is supposed to be a gentle kiss to show her I appreciate her, I love her, I’m not letting her go. But as soon as her soft lips meet mine and I inhale her strawberry scent and taste her wild candy flavor, I’m a goner.

She moans and I thrust my tongue into her mouth. My fingers dig into her hips as I haul her near.

Bang! Bang!

Indy yanks away from me. Her eyes are wide and her lips are swollen. It’s sexy as hell.

“Dinner’s ready,” Peace calls.

“No fair. You know I wanted to listen to them having sex,” Olivia says.

I burst into laughter. “There’s never a dull moment around my family.”

My family. Those words feel strange. It’ll take time before I’m used to them. Used to not being alone.

Now to make Indy part of my family and I’ll have everything I’ve ever needed.

Chapter 24

Teacher – if you’re lucky, a famous person who happens to have a free day

Indigo

“Enjoy your lunch,” I call to my class of fourth graders as they rush out of the room. “Don’t run!”

I don’t know why I bother shouting. They’re going to run anyway. Luckily for me, their running is not my problem today.

I sigh as I plop down in the chair behind my desk. And I thought six-year-olds were exhausting. Nine-year-olds are worse.

Knock! Knock!

“Come in,” I answer. I smile as Cash strolls into my classroom. “What are you doing here?”

He scowls. “Is that how you greet your boyfriend?”
