Cross shrugs. “Let’s go find out.”

When we get inside, she’s sitting on the couch in a tiara with Kerrigan and Ares. Yes, Ares is wearing a tiara too. Oh, man. I need to get a picture of this.

“Hey, guys. What are you watching?”

“Cinderella,” Kerrigan tells us with her sweet, quiet voice.

Bellamy comes rushing into the room, fixing her crown, with a sleeping Jax on her shoulder. “Don’t start without me.”

“Come watch wif us, Evie?” Kerrigan asks, and my heart warms.

“Sure, baby.” I move around the couch and sit next to Kerrigan. Then Cross rounds the couch with another tiara. He smiles and places it on my head.

“Cinderella needs her tiara, doesn’t she, baby girl?”

Kerrigan giggles. “She does, Daddy.”

Then he drops to one knee in front of me, and I stop breathing completely.

“She needs something else too.” He pulls a Tiffany blue box from his pocket, and his eyes water when he cracks it open. “Baby...”

“Yes, Daddy?”

Cross laughs at his daughter but keeps his eyes on me. “My life is complicated. And loving me means loving more than just me. But it means you’ll be loved by me.”

“And me,” Kerrigan pipes in. “And Jax too,” she adds, so excited that I feel my first tear fall. Good tears this time.

“I love you, Everly Amelia Sinclair. Would you do me the honor of marrying me and loving us?”

“Oh, Cross.” I drop to my knees in front of him and gather his face in my hands. “I already love all of you. Yes. I’ll marry you.”

He captures my lips with his, and Kerrigan giggles before Cross pulls back and slips a gorgeous, brilliant-cut diamond solitaire on my finger. “A perfect fit,” he says as he runs his finger over the ring.

“It’s perfect, Cross,” I gasp and try unsuccessfully to hold back my tears.

“Well, Gracie may have helped with that,” he tells me, and my sister smiles.

“Thanks for letting me be here for this,” she tells him with matching tears in her own eyes.

“Everly Wilder,” I tell him.

“You gonna take my name, baby?” he murmurs, so damn happy.

“Yup. And that’s going to be the name. Everly Wilder Design.”

My heart settles in a way I’m not sure it ever has before when Kerrigan, my quiet girl, jumps up on the couch, throws her arms wide open, and announces, “And they lived happily ever after.”

I should have known it wouldn’t be that easy.

CROSS

“Wilder,” Kingston calls out after we finish our morning skate.

We already hit the ice for about thirty minutes this morning. Just enough to get a feel for the ice. Most of us are either going home to take a nap or going to see Brynn and Doc for treatment before we have to be back tonight for the game. Emotions are already riding high since our first home game of the season is against Pittsburgh. Two Pennsylvania teams. It’s a grudge match every game between us. And that’s before I wanted to kill their center.

“Wilder, slow down.” I turn in the parking lot and see Jace coming toward me. We’re two of the last guys to leave. Have been since he made me assistant captain.

“Sorry, Kingston. What’s up? You need something?”
