I move to the bedside where my jeans are and pull out the black lace panties I stole from the goddess as a keepsake.

Like some creepo I took them when she fell asleep. I didn’t realize at the time that this was all I’d have left of her.

This is it.

Andwhat do I do now?

Could I find her?

Should I?

I want to.

I sit with my back against the nightstand and try to remember if she mentioned which hotel she was staying in.

I’m usually good with remembering things like that, but I can’t remember if orwhenshe told me. If she did it could have been when we were drinking in the early hours of the morning. At that time I’d had too much to drink and all I wanted to do was fuck her again.

She said she’d be in Vegas for a few more days but what are the chances of finding her again with the little information I have?

I have next to nothing, just her panties—which no one else will see—and I have a description.

Long blonde hair, hazel colored Bambi eyes, five-foot-four inches tall, body of a goddess.

It’s not a lot to go on, but it’s something.

I retrieve my phone. I’d switched it off shortly after we came back to the suite.

When I saw Venus switch her phone off to her father I assumed her reasons were linked to her asshole ex.

I can’t imagine shit like that happening in a family but I know it does. Venus didn’t elaborate about the dynamics between the ex and her sister and the rest of her family but I figured her parents must be okay with them being together.

I sensed it, and I sensed she was hurt by it.

The unspoken pain was written all over her face after she switched off her phone.

Well, if I find her, I’ll make her forget all over again.

I turn my phone back on so I can get a list of all the hotels in the area. That’s where I’ll start looking for her.

A slew of voice and text messages come through all at once, making my phone buzz, then it actually rings.

I groan when I see the caller ID and realize this is one person I can’t ignore—Uncle Preston.

Throughout this madness he hasn’t called me because I gave him the heads-up on what I was doing. He didn’t agree with it but as he’s never been the guy to try to overpower me in any way, he went along with my decision.

I answer the call and place the phone to my ear.

“Hey Preston.”

“Hey, there. Glad you answered. I called before but I think your phone was switched off.”

“Yeah, sorry. I’m guessing they got to you?”

“Like a bad rash.” He chuckles.

It makes sense that if Coach Donovan and anyone else who was trying to contact me couldn’t, they’d call Preston. “Who was it?”

“Shawn Jakobe, the man himself.”
