Feeling thirsty for blood, I stand as Dante follows my lead.

“Let’s go play.”

* * *

My adrenaline spikes the minute I enter the warehouse. Cesareand Dominic are already waiting inside. The two are staying close by so they can be involved with getting Anya back. I’d never been much of a team player, but I realized quickly that my wife and the Violante’s are a packaged deal. And I’d be furious if they left me out of anything that involved my wife, so I shot them a courtesy text while we were on the way to the warehouse.

I had Kai and Tao bring the traitorous fucker here. He’s still unconscious as Kai pulls him out of the trunk. I walk ahead and settle my duffle bag on the table and lay out my toys as the men strip Isaac of his clothes and hang him by his wrists.

I shrug off my coat and strip down, cracking my knuckles. Dominic approaches me and hands me a bag, and I pull out the contents, realizing it’s a pair of Dickies coveralls and gloves. He and Cesare have changed in to theirs. I strip and plan my next move—things are about to get messy.

We don’t have to wait too long. He startles with a shout when Kai pours a bucket of cold water over his head. I let him get his wits together. Eyes flashing left and right as he observes the room in which he’d be taking his last breath.

“What are you doing? Why am I here?” the prick demands, glancing between me, Dante, Kai, and Tao.

“I’m sure you already know the answer to that,” I reply coolly, brushing my hand over the instruments on the table before selecting one.

Dominic circles him like the predator he is, while Cesare hides in the shadows.

“Do you know who I am? Let me go before I make you regret it,” Isaac demands through gritted teeth. His eyes bounce between the men in the room, giving away his fear.

“We know exactly what you are. You are nothing,” Dominic snarls before punching the guy in the stomach. He lets out a grunt but doesn’t cry out.

“You’ve always had it out for my wife. But what did you get out of it?” I move to stand in front of him and drag a blade down his chest, breaking skin, getting a thrill out of the sight of the blood drawn. His breathing increases. “Saying nothing won’t save you. Your friend Caishen once taught me that. Luckily, I’m a quick study. Lower him,” I call out as Dante releases the chains, allowing the fucker to fall. Feet hovering over the floor. I watch his eyes widen before he quickly recovers.

“Still got nothing to say?” Dominic asks, getting in his face.

“She will fail. She’s too weak—you all are,” the traitor spits before turning his eyes on me. “Especially you, blinded by pussy—”

He lets out a cry as my fist connects with his stomach. The rat pisses himself.

“Should’ve been more specific. Do you have anythingusefulto say?” Dominic questions as he moves over to the table.

Isaac spits out again, but I dodge it.

“Well, then, you won’t be needing these.” Dominic grabs his face, forcing his mouth open and yanks out his teeth with the pliers. The room booms as he screams, choking on his blood, and the crack of his teeth make as they’re removed from his skull.

Dominic lets out a villainous cackle. “Speak no evil.”

I chuckle, following suit and grabbing a blade before slicing one of his ears clean off. The rat lets out a desperate cry as blood spills from his mouth and the side of his head.

“Hear no evil.”

Dominic grabs the blade out of my hands, and before I know it, he’s slicing across Isaac’s face, directly over his eye. He wails out and begs. Only then does Cesare make his presence known. I hadn’t noticed he picked up the morningstar.

Isaac’s good eye widens and starts lashing around against his restraints. His screams and cries echo around the space. He’sclose to cracking. I can always tell. And from what I can sense, Cesare is, too. I knew the man was unusually too calm all the time.

“I’m a little disappointed, Isaac, but I can’t say I’m surprised,” Cesare taunts the bleeding man. “You were always a greedy prick. Biting off more than you could chew.”

Isaac doesn’t respond, instead grunts as he lets his head hang down. Grabbing the torch, I light it up and start grazing over his eye, ear, and open wounds. He fights, but there’s no escaping. It’s not long before he’s begging for mercy. Begging for his life. Crying out to his mother.

When I get done with him, Cesare approaches him with no mercy in his eyes. Without warning, he winds up the morningstar and lashes at Isaac’s body repeatedly. He pisses and shits himself as Cesare grunts and roars as takes out his fury on the man whose flesh is ripped from his body. Even Dominic’s stunned watching his own father lose control.

Isaac apologizes and begs for his life, but nothing causes Cesare to let up. I move back over the table and get my next move ready. I’m filling the syringe when Cesare stops. His chest heaving, face covered in blood.

“Finish him,” Cesare growls before dropping the tool and storming off without a word. Dominic dips his head at me before following after his capo.

The lingering stench of copper and burnt flesh hangs in the air. I’m almost sad he gave in so soon. I could’ve kept going. I wanted to. Needed to. His eyes start drooping, and I stab him with the needle, releasing a dose of adrenaline to keep him awake. He’ll bleed out soon, but I don’t need him to be alive for much longer. Long enough for the finale.
