“Any word from Xander?” he asks as we move back inside.

“Said he’ll have things ready by tonight.”

He finishes his drink before setting it on the counter.

“Make me proud.” He dips his head at both Dante and me before exiting.

I’m pretending to work on my computer before an alert on my phone grabs my attention. Fuck, did everyone want to come over?

“Kai,” I tell Dante, who raises his head.

“This better be good,” I tell him as the doors open.

“Oh, it is,” he replies as he pulls out his laptop.

“Get on with it.”

“After your assassination attempt, remember how Anya had us looking into families that still had ties to the 14K?”

I nod.

“I wondered if there was someone working against us, but I tapped everyone’s phones and couldn’t find anything. So, I figured they had to be using burners. I had wires hidden in anyone’s homes that I found suspicious. Then, after we found out Grayson’s phone was bugged, I couldn’t help but also wonder how the hell Caishen found out abouthimso quickly.”

My mind wanders back to the memory when Xander spilled his father’s secrets.

* * *

“And Grayson?” I ask, remembering the bug we confiscated.

“My father sent someone to his training facility. Pretended to be a client,” Xander answers as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

And maybe it was.

What he says lines up with the images we found of Grayson.

“I have men on him at all times. We would’ve caught you,” I argue.

“You have men watchinghim. Not the locker room. He leaves his phone there when he trains.”

* * *

“So, what did you find?” I ask Kai.

“I got word that Isaac was trying to get enough men together to convince Grayson to take over. Whether by force or by killing Anya.”

That little fucker.

“Relax. They obviously never made contact with Grayson, but Isaac has been conspiring against your wife. His plan B was, if he couldn’t get Gray to take over himself, he was going to let Caishen take the Triad back.”

“Motherfucker,” Dante retorts as I crack my neck and knuckles. “So, Isaac tipped off Caishen about Grayson’s existence? And conspired against my wife?”

Kai nods.

“I figure you have a lot of pent-up anger.”

“Where is he now?” I ask coolly.

Kai looks smug. “My trunk. Tao is watching him.”
