Blood spews from her nose, but it doesn’t discourage her. She charges me as I grab the gun, and I turn it on her. Before I can pull the trigger, the gun is kicked out of my hand, and two men are holding Delphine back. When I look over, Xander is standing over me, but he’s staring directly at her, his face mutinous.

“Ràng wo zou!”Let me go!She thrashes against the two men.

“Ni bù néng xià mìng lìng.”You don’t make commands. Xander’s deep voice trembles with disdain through his clenched teeth. “You are nothing.”

She rears back for a second before lifting her chin.

I use the distraction to quickly unbuckle the straps around my ankles and kick off my heels, but I don’t look away.

“You are not the dragon head!” she yells back, spitting, but it doesn’t reach him.

I almost forgot she had an English accent. I’ve only ever heard her speak once.

He slowly approaches her and wraps his hand around her throat. Her eyes widen as his grip tightens and fights for air.

“I normally don’t hurt women.” He grits his teeth. “But you’re not a woman, are you? You’re not even human after what you’ve done.”

She struggles against his grip while the other two men hold her firm. Her face turns red and purple as she fights for her life. I finally gain the wits to grab the gun and stand. He lets her go, and the men follow. She falls straight down with her hand on her throat as she gasps for air.

“Take her but keep her alive,” Xander orders, his voice colder than the ocean before us. He turns to me, eyes blazing with fury. “Don’t worry. She will be dealt with.”

I don’t know how to respond to that. I didn’t care for her enough to want her dead until she attacked me. Now, I’m curious more than ever about what he wants to do with her. I don’t waste time dwelling, as I need to find my husband.

It doesn’t take long to spot Nico. He has his back turned, dripping wet. I spot Papa and Caishen dueling it out, although I wouldn’t call it much of a fight. Papa’s beat him to a pulp. I’ve never seen him in action before.

As I run in their direction, I glance around and see that most of the deck is cleared. I’m assuming his men are either dead or hiding somewhere. They might outnumber us, but they didn’t out arm us from what I could tell.

Nico is panting as I run up next to him.

“You will not get away with this,” Caishen barks from the ground.

His eyes are swollen shut, and blood spits from his mouth.

“Look around.” Nico waves the gun in the air. “I already have. Looks like your men aren’t so loyal after all.”

“My son will come for you. Even in death, I’ll still be ruining you!”

Nico chuckles. “How do you think we got your location?” My husband grins like the Cheshire Cat, and Caishen’s eyes widen with fear and anger. “Ah, yes, a tale as old as time. Man betrayed by his own.”

“My men will go after him and you—”

A shot rings out and hits Caishen in the stomach. As he gurgles blood from his mouth, I look for the source and spot Papa aiming his gun at him.

“I had to get at least one shot in.” He shrugs without looking away from Goh.

Without another word, Nico shoots him in between the eyes.

“Toss him in the ocean, and get your asses back to the chopper.” Nico looks at Enzo and another man as he grabs my arm and pulls me toward the helicopter, careful not to get me wet. Dante repeats the order in what I assume is the earpiece. Nico’s earpiece was likely dead after the fall in the pool.

Papa appears to my other side and pulls me into a side hug before hustling to the other helicopter. Xander is probably long gone by now. I wonder if he ordered his men to leave. Nico said he’d explain everything later, so I supposed I’ll just have to wait.

Giving the ship one last backward glance, I climb into the helicopter. Dom pulls me up, wrapping his arms around me in a quick hug. I let out a sigh of relief when I spot a shivering Pria moving to take her seat. Kai follows closely, holding her by her shoulders and helps her buckle in. It looks as if he offered his jacket to her.

I’m shocked when I make eye contact with Grayson. He gives me a wary smile and dips his head before looking over at my husband. Seems I’ve missed a lot.

Once we’re all inside, the door closes, and I don’t even have time to find my own seat when the pilot ascends. Everyone makes quick work to get buckled and get their headsets on, so we aren’t having to yell over the propellers. The second we’re far enough, I hear an explosion, and when I glance out of the window, the ship is in fiery pieces sinking into the ocean. I realize the helicopter is level, and I unbuckle myself and do the same to Nico as I start to rip off his clothes.

“Woah, baby, that part has to wait.” Nico grins.
