A few minutes later, I stand next to him, ready for the day. “Okay, sweetcheeks.” I hold my hands out and twirl in my silk pajamas. “Where are the cool threads from the Fates?”

Eros cracks open an eye, grinning like a fool. “Sweetcheeks? I love it.” He snaps his fingers.

I’m dressed in my own clothes… my jeans, long-sleeved shirt, and hiking boots. I look up in confusion and see Eros has on similar casual attire. He also has my favorite camera in his hand.

“What’s going on?” I frown. “I thought you were going to dress me in something sexy.”

“Disappointed?” He smirks. “You’re liking the new look, huh?”

“I suppose it doesn’t suck.”

“Just so you know, you’re perfect no matter what you’re wearing.”

“Yeah, yeah.” I brush off his flirty comment, but I feel myself straighten with pride. I place my hands on my hips in mock brattiness. “Where are we going?”

“It’s a surprise,” Eros says and quickly wraps his arms around me.

We teleport and land… I don’t know where.

Once everything stops spinning, I open my eyes.

I don’t recognize it as anywhere on Earth, and I’ve done my fair share of photography dream traveling and checking out every possible photogenic place on Earth. The air feels thin, but breathable. It’s also warm but not uncomfortably so.

“Where are we?” I ask.

It’s so beautiful, I hold onto Eros as if I might float away.

I crane my head back to follow the purple spires that reach up over my head by a hundred feet or more. Lush vegetation covers the ground, and we are surrounded by huge, wide trees and delicate bushes. The parts that have bare patches of ground are a beautiful swirl of blue and violet. I hear the roar of a waterfall and can see its white spray in the distance. The sky is pale pink and not blue, but it isn’t either morning or evening, which would account for that color, because a dimmer star than Earth’s is directly overhead. Oddly, it feels familiar even though I don’t recognize it. I feel calm and at peace.

When my eyes return to Eros, he watches me and holds my hand without answering my question.

“Do you like it?” he asks with a bit of shyness in his eyes.

“I love it! It weirdly feels kind of like I’ve been here before. Like a familiar dream.”

He tilts his head as if he finds it odd. “Interesting,” he murmurs.

I inhale the unusual scents in the air, like warm spices and exotic fruits. “It feels… peaceful.” I hesitate to take a step away and risk losing contact with Eros. “We aren’t on Earth, are we?”

“No, we aren’t.” He shifts apprehensively as he confesses, “We are on my original planet, where my essence came from.”

“Seriously?” My eyes bug out with the confirmation. I have accepted the reality that I’m hanging out with a god now, but toplanetjump with him? “I think part of my brain hasjust exploded and has yet to grasp that we aren’t in Kansas anymore.”

Eros turns me so we are facing each other. “Are you okay with this? I should have asked before I transported you off world.”

“I’m very okay.” I pull him into a crushing bear hug. “Thank you for showing me your home.”

“You will be the first human to photograph it,” he says as he hands me my camera.

I squee with joy, and his eyes twinkle with happiness at my reaction.

“You are honestly my hero now!”

“But not when I saved your life?” He lifts a brow in disbelief.

I wave him off like that’s nothing. “Anyone can catch someone falling, but you… you can transport me anywhere to take pictures! You’re letting me photograph your home world!”

Eros’s laughter fills the air around us, and I take my camera that he holds out for me.
