Besides, he’s in no place to judge me. His stalking behavior coupled with the gun incident last week are enough to let me know he’s in much more need of self-improvement than I am. Modeling isn’t indicative of poor character, but everything he’s said and done certainly is.

“I wear what I want,” I reply, turning my nose up at him.

“Not in front of other men, you don’t,” he growls back. “Your body is for my eyes only. I’ll kill anyone who eventhinksof looking at you.”

He can’t be serious, but his eyes are alive with rage, and he’s even starting to shake. Does he really think he owns me? We’ve barely met, and I know nothing about him.

All the money in the world can’t buy a man his sanity, I suppose.

I hold my ground against him, unwilling to allow him to win. I’m not that easy. “You’re really not in the position to tell me what to do, Pasha. If you don’t like my work, then find someone else to harass. We’re done here.”

“There is nobody else,” he grumbles. “There never could be.”

“That’s too bad,” I reply, taking a step toward my car.

I have to make a move now while I have the chance, but Pasha seems to anticipate it before my foot even hits the ground. His hand shoots out, cuffing my wrist in an iron grip. I let out a yelp, raising my hand to slap him, but he catches that one too.

“Your skin is so soft,” he says, a smirk stretching across his mouth. He brings my hand up to his mouth, planting a gentle kiss on top of it.

Goosebumps erupt on my arm, crawling up toward my head, which is spinning harder than the night we met. Pasha pulls me closer, pressing his body against mine in a way that’s so unrestrained and possessive that it shocks me. He treats me like he’s owned me for years, holding me tightly in his powerful arms.

His muscles move against me, and I find myself exploring their grooves, using my body to discover his. The experience is so intoxicating that I almost kiss him as he looks down at me.

But I wouldn’t put it past him to take me on the pavement beside my car if I did that, so I tear my mind out of the gutter and back into reality.

I can’t let this happen.

“Let me go,” I say, but my voice is far from convincing. It comes out in a breathy whisper, hardly as assertive as it should be.

To my surprise, he doesn’t push his luck. “Think about me at work, princess,” he says as he lets go of me. “And consider my offer. I could give you everything you ever wanted and more.”

Valerie

My entire body is shaking as I start the car and peel out of the parking lot, leaving Pasha behind in a cloud of gray exhaust. The place where his lips touched my hand burns like I held it over a flame.

Unforgettable. It feels like my body is obsessed with him just as much as he’s obsessed with me. I’ve been betrayed. My legs quiver, my heart races, and my stomach flutters at the thought of his warm lips somewhere else on my body.

Not my mouth.

Lower, meandering up my thighs. Exploring my body.

Tasting me.

Owning me.

I wish I could erase him from my life, but it feels like the only way to do that is to move to a different state and change my name, or get the police involved.

Fuck, I’m already going to be late for work. Do I really want to call the cops?

It feels like the reasonable thing to do, considering Pasha’s behavior today, but I feel like he’s exactly the type of person who would fight back and end up bleeding on the pavement. I’d feel guilty and I hate that about myself. I’ve spent years trying to scrub the blame away in the case of Julia’s death, and I’m not sure how I’d cope with Pasha’s.

But he’s not dead. Calling the police doesn’t kill anyone, and it’s the right thing to do. It doesn’t matter how physically attractive he is, or how his voice gives me goosebumps, he must be stopped before he hurts someone.

I reach for my phone, nearly hitting another car as I swerve into the right lane to turn. A horn blares behind me, but I barely hear it as my fingers dial 9-1-1.

“Nine-one-one, what’s the nature of your emergency?” a female voice chirps.
