I look past her to the three men standing there like they’ve achieved something. They’re proud of the way they presented her to me, but I’m disgusted with them.

“Look at her wrists,” I say, jumping out of my seat and pointing at Valerie. “Do you see those marks?”

Valerie looks down at her hands, nodding silently. She’s not happy about it either, but this isn’t what I had intended. I told them to be gentle with her and they betrayed my word.

Now, they must pay.

I snap my fingers. “You three, come here.”

The men look at each other, clearly nervous, but they come to the table anyway. Valerie looks almost as terrified as they do, but she has nothing to fear. Justice is swift in the Bratva, but it’s also fair. She’s done nothing to warrant punishment.

“Valerie, darling,” I say, softening my voice. “Do you see there how the moon has already started to rise?” I point to the horizon, simultaneously drawing my pistol.

She looks up to see the moon, and I fire three rounds.

Three bodies fall to the floor, and I hurry in front of Valerie to block them from her view. “There you are, darling, don’t worry. Nobody will mark your wrists like that again.”

“Holy shit! What did you do?!”

She’s startled, but this feels like just another day to me. I hope she can get used to it or dating a Bratva boss is going to be difficult for her to stomach. Having his baby might be even more intimidating.

“I will have them removed,” I reply, leaning down and pressing a switch under the table. Immediately, the hatch leading up to the roof opens, and four men armed with machine guns emerge.

“Clean those up, please,” I say, nodding in the direction of the four bodies on the floor.

Valerie watches in horror as her unsavory kidnappers are dragged away. I have to step in to cover her eyes when they start cleaning up the blood. “I’m so sorry you had to witness this, darling.”

She swats my hand away. “Please, Pasha, don’t make a joke out of this. You just killed three people!”

I shrug. “Self-defense, as far as I’m concerned.”

“Self-defense?!”

I sense that she’s getting frantic again, so I pull out her seat, pressing down her shoulder until she sits. “They hurt you, darling, and an attack on you is an attack on me.”

“You’re… you’re crazy!”

“Maybe so, but you can’t say I’m not a romantic,” I reply with a grin.

The floor is clean and my men have left us alone again, but Valerie isn’t satisfied.Out of sight, out of minddoesn’t work in her case. She’s still freaking out about the shooting.

“Do you like wine?” I ask, gesturing toward the bottle in the middle of the table.

“You’re stalking me all the time, so I feel like you should know that.”

I love her attitude. Women like her are easy to read because they’re assertive. She won’t be shy about telling me what her pretty little heart desires, and I’m in the perfect position to give her everything she wants and more.

Plus, I know the sex is going to be mind-blowing. That attitude translates well in the bedroom.

Or under the stars, as tonight may have it.

Valerie is still looking at me expectantly, like I’m about to explain why I’ve been stalking her, or at least apologize for it, butI’m not sorry for anything I’ve done. In my eyes, this has all been necessary. She will realize it too, eventually.

I sigh. “So, no wine. I know you like cocaine, but we’re not doing that tonight.”

She frowns, yanking her head back so hard that she almost loses balance and falls over backward in her chair. “Who said anything about drugs?”

“You have a habit, which is fine, but you’re going to have to get sober,” I reply calmly.
