I watched him cook over the stovetop for a little while until he prepared a plate for me and strode over with it. As he slid the plate piled high with the Irish breakfast in front of me, I was taken aback by the generous portion. The sizzling bacon, sausage, eggs, black and white pudding, and grilled tomatoes looked incredibly tempting, and my mouth watered at the sight.

“Give it a try,” he encouraged with a warm smile, and I couldn’t resist.

I took a forkful of eggs, and the flavors exploded in my mouth. The smoky bacon, hearty sausage, and perfectly cooked eggs were so much more delicious than I’d anticipated.

I couldn’t help but express my surprise. “Wow, this is amazing! I never expected it to taste this good.”

Connor smirked, his pride showing. “Irish cuisine certainly has its hidden gems. I’m glad you like it.”

He quickly got up and prepared his own plate and joined me. I noticed Connor’s usual confident demeanor faltering as he sat across from me, a hint of awkwardness in his expression. His hazel eyes flickered with uncertainty, and his lips, which were typically curved in a warm smile, were now drawn into a slight self-conscious grin. He ran a hand through his beard, and looked down at his plate, studying it a bit too closely. His shoulders were tense, and he shifted in his chair, fidgeting ever so slightly.

He was nervous about something, and I didn’t know what.

“Did you have a good night?” he asked, but there was a certain tentativeness to his voice that hadn’t been there before. I smiled, taking another bite of the delicious breakfast he had prepared.

“Last night was quite the adventure,” I replied, deliberately keeping the conversation light. “And I have to say, the vodka was exceptional. It added an extra touch of magic to the evening.”

Connor chuckled again, a warm and genuine sound. “I’m glad you liked it.”

As I continued to eat, I couldn’t help but be curious about his question.

“You mentioned some important things last night,” I said, feigning innocence. “What exactly did we talk about again? I was a little tipsy.”

He opened and closed his mouth as his eyes narrowed, studying me closely.

Oh…

I got it.

He had gotten pretty buzzed last night. Maybe his memory was a little hazy, and I didn’t know why, but that amused me greatly.

It was evident that he wasn’t entirely sure how to address the conversation that had taken place the previous night. His body language conveyed a mix of hope and reservation, as if he wanted to discuss our newfound arrangement but was uncertain how to broach the topic.

“Well, we might have talked about a lot of things. Maybe some big decisions, like sharing…” he said, playfully cryptic.

I arched an eyebrow, pretending not to understand his hints. “Big decisions? You’ll have to remind me. I might have been a little distracted by all that delicious vodka.”

Connor laughed again, and it was clear he was enjoying the playful banter. “Oh, come on now, sweet girl. Don’t be coy. You know exactly what I mean.”

I knew he was referring to the discussion about sharing me with his brother, but I couldn’t resist teasing him a bit more.

“What was it? Sharing? Oh, you meant like sharing secrets or stories, right?” I queried, unable to hide the mischievous glint in my tone.

“That’s not what I meant, naughty girl,” Connor chided, and my cheeks flushed bright red like a tomato left to dry out in the sun.

As if matters couldn’t get any worse, Caden strode into the kitchen at that exact moment. His steps were purposeful, and his presence seemed to fill the room. He had a slightly mischievous glint in his piercing blue eyes, and a small smirk tugged at the corners of his lips, as if he were privy to some dark secret. His dark, wavy hair was tousled, giving him a casually rugged appearance as his gaze met mine.

“Don’t you remember, Anastasia? My brother and I decided it would be for the best if we shared you between us. We talked about it last night,” he stated, his voice bold and unapologetic. His eyes twinkled playfully, and I fidgeted in my chair, caught completely off guard.

My cheeks burned with embarrassment as I stammered over my words. “I… I… um… well, you see, I was just… teasing Connor and…”

Connor chuckled, his eyes twinkling mischievously. “Oh, sweet girl, no need to be shy now. We did talk about it last night, remember?”

“I… well… yes…” I admitted, feeling as though I’d shoved my face in a campfire.

“Were you a good girl last night?” Caden asked, and Connor raised his eyebrows in surprise, looking between the two of us.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I stiffened, annoyance creeping into my voice.
