Page 85 of Impromptu Match

I chuckled. “I don’t think anyone’s complaining.” I certainly wasn’t.

Unsurprisingly, Corey still won the match. I wondered if it was written into his contract that he always won. The audience didn’t seem to care that he was undefeated. No one wanted to see those nipple tassels stop spinning in triumph.

I suppressed a yawn as I glanced at my watch. It was almost midnight when the last match ended—well past my usual bedtime—but my horniness for Holt was fuelling me, keeping me awake.

As we rose from the couch, Holt told me the bar would stay open for another hour or so. Threading his fingers through mine, he led me out of the private box and down the long corridor toward the backstage area. He said he usually went to speak to the wrestlers after each show, to congratulate them on their performances and briefly go over the line-up for the next night.

The moment he pushed open the doors to the wrestlers’ backstage room, I spotted Gabe and Biff—gleaming with sweat and still a little out of breath—chugging protein shakes in the kitchen area. Corey was picking up Cora from the couch and sweeping past us, announcing that he had to do his meditations.

Vince was once again dressed only in a low-slung towel, his blackish-grey hair damp from a shower, as he played video games on the couch with Val. Susan was beside them, her legs curled up under her and eyes glued to her phone. It was the first time I’d seen her without the spiked black mask that covered her lower face in the ring. Her lips were blue-black, and as she grinned down at her phone, I saw that all her teeth were sharp.

Dullahan Dan, still in his cowboy get-up, was carefully balancing his head on his neck as he guzzled a beer. Larkin was trying to keep up with him, but beer kept spluttering out of his mouth around the neck of the bottle. Seb was sitting on the far end of the couch with his crossword book, but kept glancing up at him periodically.

“That’s only his second, boss,” he said calmly when he spotted us. “He’s been looking after Cora, so he took it slow.”

“Well that’s something,” Holt muttered, just as a voice rang out from the ceiling.

“Hey, look, it’s Taylor!” Enormous black wings appeared in my periphery, making me jump, as Kit swooped down from the ceiling and landed beside me, stumbling a little. “You been playing Moth Simulator, bro? I’m already better than Larkin.”

“Oh.” I blinked and chuckled nervously as every other wrestler in the room looked over. “Um, I haven’t played it much recently—”

“You see the matches? What did you think of mine?”

“It was great.” I nodded emphatically. “I, um, can see why you don’t really like cage matches. You get so high.”

“Taylor, babe.” Gabe was sauntering over with a smirk, dragging Biff behind him with a finger hooked into the front of the gargoyle’s tiny briefs. I went red and averted my gaze quickly when I caught a glimpse of dark pubic hair and the intimidatingly thick root of a grey dick. “Did you see our match?”

“Uh-huh.” I nodded quickly, my face still hot. “It was awesome. Super… aggressive.”

“Kind of got me goin’ when Corey’s foot was on my neck.” Gabe grinned and adjusted his junk through his tiny leather skirt. “And seeing Biff get his ass handed to him.”

Biff snorted in derision and made sure to tell me in his deep, gravelly voice, “It’s all rehearsed, sweetheart. I could take Corey down if I wanted to.”

I gulped. “I’m… I’m sure you could.”

“This is Taylor?” The unfamiliar feminine voice made me look over at the couch to see Susan—The Silent Scream—uncurling her legs and rising gracefully to her feet. She was out of her costume, now dressed in sweats and a loose crop top that said Assmo Dickus on the front.

I was guessing that was her porn star boyfriend’s stage name.

“I’ve heard so much about you already.” She gave me a sweet smile as she approached. Her voice was soft and gentle—not at all what I’d expected from the fierce banshee who I’d just watched slam Val Kyl-More’s head into her knee.

I smiled back. “Nice to meet you. Susan, right?”

“Yeah!” She beamed. “Oh my gosh, you’re so cute. Asmo was so tickled when I told him Holt was dating a human.”

“Asmo,” I echoed nervously, gaze darting to her T-shirt. “Is that your boyfriend?”

“Yeah.” She smiled sweetly at me. “He’s an incubus adult film star. Maybe you’ve seen some of his work? There’s Assmo Deez-Nuts, which really launched his career. Or um… his new one is Incu-bating with the Bros.”

“Some of his best work,” Gabe said earnestly. “Seriously, it was great.”

“It really was,” Holt admitted, then flushed when I glanced at him, defensively adding, “I just like supporting my employees and their families.”

“Oh gosh, really?” Susan beamed, revealing her needle-sharp teeth. “I’ll let Asmo know. He’ll be so pleased.”

“Well.” Holt cleared his throat, tugging me closer into his side. “I just wanted to say great work tonight, everyone. Val and Susan, perfect as always. Kit, good job not getting distracted by the spotlights. Dan, I’m glad you’re finally listening to me when I tell you not to launch your head directly at the breasts of women in the audience.”

“They love it,” Dan drawled, his severed head resting on the counter as his body cracked open a fresh beer.
