“Now, why would I want to do that?”

He lifted her hand to his mouth, kissing each of her fingertips softly, pulling her against him, her mouth inches away from his. “Because we are the same, you and me. Two peas in a pod. Like Bonnie and Clyde.”

“They both died in a wild shoot-out. Doesn’t sound as romantic as you think.” She jerked her hands away, making her annoyance clear. “I have zero desire to be alone with you in any manner.”

“But the ride, man, the ride would be legendary. And worth it.”

“You don’t take no for an answer, do you?” She knew his answer, knew he would needmore than words to get him to leave her alone. She glanced at Nassau, thinking maybe he would intercede before she had to be mean.

“Hard to say. I’ve never heard no coming from a woman’s mouth. The words I usually hear are much more exciting. So, why waste time? You could be screaming my name tonight.”

Finally fed up, and an impetuous idea forming in her head, she smiled. A quick look around, and she made sure no one else was around before leaning in to whisper in his ear. “I’m not sure you could. You see, I have a unique set of…” She paused, pretending to be a little shy. “…you know, kinks. I need something different to get off. And I rarely find that.”

She pulled back, lightly running her finger down the middle of his chest before snagging the waistband of his jeans suggestively. “I doubt you’re up for my brand of fun, so I’m not interested. Run along and find some other vanilla activities.”

She knew he would take the bait, and she wasn’t exactly sure where she was going with this, but she had every intention of teaching him a lesson. So, when he grabbed her by the hips, pressing her against the fence, she was close enough to feel his heart racing.

“Baby, nothing’s off limits with me. You name it, I’ll top it.” His breath teased along her cheek, and she could feel every inch of him pressed into her. But it was all wrong. He wasn’t the one she wanted touching her, and the pettiness rose within her. Especially when she turned her head to see Nassau steadily heading towards them, his eyes boring into hers. Nope. The other night had been a mistake, one she wouldn’t be repeating. Not when the stakes were Nassau’s heart. But how would she get rid of Isaiah? He didn’t give up.

“First, it needs to be public. And I don’t mean in the car behind a building. I want the highest risk possible. Somewhere open and obvious. Somewhere someone could walk up at any moment. And if they do, then I want them to watch, to see your cum drip down my thighs.”

“Fuck. That’s…I can do that.” He swallowed hard, eyes dark as he looked down at her. So, she pushed him back, putting space between them and ducking under his arm. “Now?”

She turned her back to Nassau, walking backwards away from Isaiah, even as he gripped her hand, keeping her from stepping away too far. “Not now. I’m being watched now. Midnight? I can slip away. Just tell me where. And it better be good.”

“The pack park. There’s a bench—”

“Uh-uh. Won’t work. I have a surprise for you. I need a door, or something tall to lean against.”

“Shit. The gazebo at the park?”

“Hmmm. Is it wooden or metal? I don’t want to break it.”

All the possibilities ran through his mind for the seconds it took him to process that thought. “The training grounds. Near the packhouse.”

She smiled at him conspiratorially. “Midnight it is. Be ready for my surprise.”

Tugging her hand from his grasp, she turned to where Nas leaned back against the fence. She had been just loud enoughfor him to hear. He was dirty, sweaty, and hot as hell. What she wouldn’t give to be meeting him at midnight instead. But she walked past him, heading to the picnic table to pack up her stuff.

“We done for the day, boss?”

He didn’t answer her, but she didn’t expect him to. She could see the stiffness in his body, his fists balled up, and his jaw clenched, but he never looked her way. Not since he’d laid eyes on her and Isaiah. And if she had learned anything about him today, his protectiveness would kick in, and he would follow her tonight. She was counting on that.

Sliding her glasses back onto her face, she watched Isaiah slap Nassau on the back and start up a completely one-sided conversation with him. He didn’t seem bothered by that though. They all seemed used to Nassau’s silence.

Without a backward glance, she headed over to Nassau’s truck, sliding inside, thinking she’d be waiting a minute, but he was right behind her, simply walking away from Isaiah mid-conversation. They rode in silence, and when she only cleared her throat, trying to break the tension, she didn’t know what to say. Every interaction with him was a toss-up in what she could handle.

So, when they pulled up in front of the packhouse, he parked and waited for her to get out, but she hesitated. “You going to stick around? Eat dinner with…us?”

“No.”

He didn’t elaborate, and she reached for the door handle, pausing. Everything she wanted to say was always on the tip of her tongue, she just hadn’t found the courage yet. Maybe if she could—

But the moment was taken from her when her door swung open.“Your chariot awaits, milady.”

Keoni’s grinning face appeared, and she hopped out, grateful for the interruption. This wasn’t the time for a confession. Sheneeded to think it through a little more. Maybe she just needed more time. Hustling towards the packhouse, she heard him ask Nassau how the day went, but she didn’t stick around for his answer. Instead, she headed inside and straight to her room.

She took the lost moment as a sign. She couldn’t tell him. She just needed to set better boundaries with him. She needed to be stronger and not let the bond suck her in. But everything about him intrigued her, and every moment she spent with him left her craving more. So much so, she forgot everything she was working towards when he was around.
