“Yeah, yeah. I’ve seen it all before. Time to get up. Breakfast is pancakes today.”

She groaned and sank back down on the bed, wondering where Nassau went and when. Her pillow still smelled like him, and she wanted to bury her face in it and sleep forever.

“Noooo. I just want to sleep. I was finally sleeping so good.”

“I bet you were. I can smell him in here. Did you make him rock you to sleep?”

“Shut up and go make an excuse for me. You got me in this mess, now get me out. Just the morning, and then I’ll get out of bed for the afternoon.”

“That’s a hard no. My dad is on something this morning already. No clue what, but he specifically sent me up here and said he needed to speak with you.”

She sighed, but stretched, using her feet to push him off the bed. “Fine. Get out.”

She was showered, dressed, and downstairs within twenty minutes, but this time, she was ready for the day with her work jeans and boots on, along with a simple tank. Downstairs, she slid into the empty seat beside Lana, the youngest sibling at eighteen, and the only girl, who chatted happily about an upcoming test in her online class. But when the door opened, and Nassau walked in wearing a fresh set of clothes, she tried to keep her attention elsewhere, determined to do what he asked. Last night, she had made the snap decision that one night was all she wanted. One night with her mate, and then she could be the miserable one for the rest of her life, and he would never know.

But even knowing nothing, he still made smarter decisions than her.

They had been sitting around the table chatting and eating their pancakes when Axel arrived, clearly irritated. Nubia slid his plate over to him, and he picked up his fork without a word. Several minutes went by in silence before he spoke.

“Seems like there was an interesting incident last night on the training grounds.”

Shit. Did someone really tell him?

Keoni lifted his head, frowning. “Did they catch the stalker? Here?”

“No. But Isaiah was blindfolded, handcuffed, gagged, and left out in the open. Naked.”

“Isaiah?”

“Naked?”

“Handcuffed?”

“What happened?”

She kept her head down, focusing on her pancakes, while everyone else spoke all at once.

“Bailey?”

“Yes, Alpha?” He raised his eyebrow at her pointedly when she answered him. She swallowed her nervousness and smiled big. “That sounds awful. Poor guy. But he must have pissed someone off though. Did he tell you what happened?”

“No. Interestingly enough, he didn’t seem upset and refused to say. When asked what happened, he only had one response.”

“Yeah?”

“He said, and I quote, ‘Alpha, I think I’m in love.’”

She snorted at that, rolling her eyes. “Sounds like he didn’t learn his lesson then.”

Axel reached into the bag he had brought with him, then dumped the items one-by-one onto the table in front of his plate.

Two sets of handcuffs. One she had taken from Cassie months ago, and one she had been carrying around for a while. Then the ball gag. Another fun little gift she stole from Cassie’s hidden room of horrors.

She could hear the giggle rise from Lana and a deep chuckle from Zhair and Keoni. She smirked, remembering exactly how she left him. But when he held the little silver bracelet between his fingers, his Alpha strength so strong he was unaffected by the tiny scrap of silver, she paused.

“I believe this belongs to you, correct? This is what your stalker used on you? To weaken you? To cut your link to your pack?”

She sighed heavily, before looking up at him. She should fear him. He was certainly scary looking, intimidating, and exuded power. But she had seen him broken not too long ago. She had seen the human side of the most feared Alpha in the country. His mate and daughter kidnapped, his sons shot and almost killed in front of him, even his own gruesome torture in front of thewhole Aisling pack. He had been broken, as had Makaii before they saved Ava. To her, he looked just like Makaii, and there was no way she would ever be afraid of either of them.
