“Yeah? Your energy doesn’t feel fine.”

“My energy? Stop doing all your witchy shit and reading my emotions.”

“Sure. Let me just turn my witchy shit off.”

“Thanks, you’re a peach.”

She caught Cassie’s eyeroll as Keoni stepped into the kitchen with his bags. “Lana and Z are coming down now. Isaiah is about to pull up. We wanted to break the news to him before my dad got here. Have him all ready and see if my dad could tell the difference between you.”

“That sounds fun.”

Within minutes, chaos filled the room, between all the siblings, her, and Cassandra, then Isaiah showing up, along with Nubia bustling around making some food for the road, she was grinning from ear to ear at the constant hints and jokes made at Isaiah’s expense before he knew.

So, when Nassau walked in, almost no one else noticed him, but she did. Casually, he hung his hat by the door and pulled off his boots, then grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. She had to actively work not to let her eyes slide to him and watch his every move, but her whole body tensed in his presence. By now, she had gotten so used to suppressing it, and she hadn’t noticed her own reactions. So, when Cassie reached over, grabbing her knee, and using a small comfort spell on her, she was surprised.

Finally, she felt like she could breathe again. No one else saw the subtle exchange of magic, and unconsciously, she touched the gem around her neck. Maybe Cassie could strengthen the fake scent on her necklace before she left. Just for good measure.

But when Isaiah sidled over to the other side of where she sat at the kitchen island, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, she grinned at the audacity of this man.

“I see you packed your bags too. Does that mean we’re gonna be back seat buddies? Me, you and Keoni?”

She took a long swig of her own drink before she slowly turned to him with a smile. “I would rather cover my tits in honey and drag them through fire ants before going on a trip with you.”

To give him credit, he didn’t miss a beat, didn’t blink at her response, only licked his lips and glanced down at the tits in question. “Damn, I hope there’s enough honey left for me when they’re done.”

Annoyed, she swiveled in her chair to face him, and he leaned in, taking that as an invitation to pull her closer between his legs. But she only lifted one hand to his face and slowly, but aggressively patted him.

“You know, I almost regretted the suggestion I made today, but you absolutely made it easy. Keoni? Are you the one giving him the news?”

She didn’t break her gaze, so when Keoni gleefully told him about his mission, she got to see his happiness disappear, replaced by confusion and a feral denial.

“You get to be the bait. As in, Cassandra is going to change your appearance, and you will be Bailey. Face, voice…and body. You’ll dress like her, walk like her, and will hopefully get kidnapped by the stalker, so we can catch him.”

“So, no real mate party for you. No wild nights with women. No more pretty Isaiah face where all the girls fall at your feet. Instead, you get to see what it’s like to be me. You’ll get to seehow I am treated by all the men, and how I have to flirt and play nice, but turn them all down.”

He chuckled nervously. “You’re joking, right?”

“No, my little petunia pop. You get to see what it’s like to be one of the women you chase. And you have to do a good job. Cuz if you don’t, the stalker will know you’re not me, and you’ll spook him.”

He only stared at her, like he was having trouble letting everything sink in. So, she continued her torture. “I gave you my best clothes, heels, purses. Don’t fuck it up. My shit is expensive.”

“I changed my mind.” He stood quickly, backing away from all of them. “I don’t really want to go on the tour. Keoni would be perfect for this mission.”

“Naw. I have to be seen with her. Like everything is normal, and I’m her traveling companion. Don’t worry. I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”

Lana’d held her phone in front of her this whole time, and as she filmed Isaiah’s reaction, she cackled, calling out to him. “You’re going to be so pretty.”

“I can’t do this. I’m going to mess it up. You need to find someone else.”

“Sorry, buddy. You’re the only logical choice who knows about my channel, my stalker, my life. You said it yourself, you’ve been watching me on social media for years. Besides, your Alpha already made the call. Thought we’d tell you in person.” She grinned at him, shrugging.

“So, you better get a grip because he expects you to be ready to go at noon. We need to get you dressed and practicing your Bailey walk by then.” Zhair wrapped his own arm around Isaiah, then ruffled his curls before he was pushed away.

“Alpha Axel approved this?”

“Not just approved.”

“Ordered.”
