She slapped his chest and pushed him away. “That’s what you got from that? You’re insufferable. Go back to the two women in your room. I hear one of them has a magical tongue. Wouldn’t want to miss out.”

“I’m pretty sure my girl has joined yours. It does sound like heaven on fucking earth in there.”

In the tense silence between them, soft moans had filtered through the walls, followed by occasional murmuring. She lifted her brow, then turned towards her bags, pulling them from the bed and digging for her pajamas.

“I’m getting in the shower. We have a door between the rooms. Leave it unlocked, cracked, whatever you need to do to feel better. We will check out in the morning, and hopefully, Travis will be back.”

They hesitated at first, then Gio went to the hallway door, locked all the extra locks, then pushed the heavy dresser in frontof it. Keoni unlocked the middle door from both sides and sure enough, with the door open, the noises from the girls became louder. When Keoni disappeared and came back for Gio, she heard the chorus of feminine voices calling for him to come back.

“You’re up, big guys. Go have fun.”

“You’re sure? Cuz I can always stay here with you for the night…”

“No. Get out.”

“Door stays open.” Both of them spoke at once, and she rolled her eyes. “So we can hear if anything happens.”

“You practically already can. With that door open, I’ll be able to hear you come. So, trust me. You’re already annoying me.”

With that, she rummaged through her bags, finding her bathroom stuff and pajamas, then left them standing there. In the shower, she turned the water as hot as she could stand it, eager to get in and feel the burn, force the day to fade away. By the time she had gotten out, she was feeling better, much more like herself. She was convinced the second she left the bathroom and slid between her sheets, she could sleep like a baby.

But when the noises coming from next door kept her awake, her mind started wandering, and that was never good. She had always been the life of the party, always moving, always surrounded by people. But now, loneliness crept up on her, invading all the walls she had carefully built.

She was surrounded by people who knew her, and men who wanted her. Usually, she reveled in it, thrived with the attention, and hated overthinking things. Ava was the overthinker. She was the idea girl, the life of the spontaneous party.

But it had been three months of torture, three months of fear, and three months of obsession.

She hadn’t seen his face, and he hadn’t scented her at all, never knew a thing. Yet, the same scene played through her mind day and night. The moment the suburbans of Tuisa menpulled up and their doors opened, she had frozen. The wind had carried his scent to her, and the inevitable catastrophe she’d been scared of since she was sixteen was dropped in her lap. Fear stole her mind in that moment, and she had run inside, panicking that she wasn’t ready for a mate. And right then, Ava, a hybrid witch, had given her the scent-masking necklace without question.

After that, her news channel had soared, requiring all her attention, and gave her purpose in life for the first time. She was needed to help remove the Supernatural Council, to free prisoners and find her kidnapped nephew. Everything had become serious, and she was no longer just a gossip channel. No more flitting around from project to project, leaning into the things other people around her loved. For once, this was her thing, and only hers. The things she did mattered, and she couldn’t slow down for a mate, and whatever that mate wanted from her. She knew that to be successful, she would have to give it her all, give it every ounce of her focus. She’d have to choose between her dream career and a family. For her, it was a no-brainer.

Growing up in Aisling, her father had taught her how to be a cowgirl, her mother taught her the restaurant business, and Ava and Ajax had taught her to fight. But she had created this world by herself, this news channel was her baby. Just as importantly, its success had become instrumental to their whole supernatural world since Ava had destroyed the old Supernatural Council only months ago.

A mate meant being chained, stuck, and obsessed with one man for the rest of her life. A mate meant she would lose focus, she would be confined to a new pack, probably pregnant and at her mate’s whims. It’s how the mate bond worked, and once she was marked and mated, she wouldn’t care about anything else. She had vowed to save herself from that fate.

Just a year ago, she joked before about fucking her way through the yummy Tuisa men, but in reality, she hadn’t wanted one for a mate. She knew that once she was locked down, she wouldn’t be allowed to leave the pack or continue her life the way she wanted it.

Everyone knew how Tuisa was. The most closed off and secretive pack in the whole country. And the most powerful and successful. No matter how much Ava would get them to loosen up as their future Luna, Bailey could guarantee whoever her mate was, he wouldn’t want her running the country on the mate tour reporting the news. The Tuisa Alpha, Axel, would never allow that either. Once she was mated and bonded to a Tuisa man, there wouldn’t be anything Ava could do to help her.

These thoughts plagued her constantly, her mind rebelling at the idea of losing herself to a man. But her wolf had other plans. Once her beast had scented their mate that one time, she had not let her forget. She whined for him, urged her, even in her dreams, to go to him in Tuisa. Refusing, she went back on the mate tour with Ava’s blessing, surrounded herself with close friends and tried to stay busy.

But it was hard to resist so many different urges at once, and the constant sex going on around her strained her resolve. Before, she could barely go a day or two without getting dicked down, and now, it had been months. But the thought of another wolf touching her twisted and turned her stomach.

So, when the moans and screams turned into group counting, she flipped the covers away, and grabbed her headphones in annoyance. Pulling out her multiple laptops, expandable screens, and phone, she set herself up at the desk in the living room area. Before sitting, she quietly moved the door from wide open to slightly cracked, and they had gotten whoever up to three orgasms. Not wanting to hear them chant the fourth onetogether, she wrapped her headphones around her head and bluetoothed them to her music app.

For hours, she worked through the footage from that night, pulling clips that had automatically saved to the cloud. She wrote ideas for segments in her notes section, outlining the order of stories, and noting the commentary she wanted to add. She reached out to a few sources, asking for updates on their betting pool. The viewers loved that shit, and despite not necessarily wanting her name to be involved, she added clips of herself dancing and gave the updated results for this week’s bracket. She knew if she kept herself out of all the news, it would look too suspicious.

She was working on her segment, highlighting the pranksters from the Nebraska pack, when Keoni came through the cracked door.

“Hey. You’re still up?”

“Kinda hard to sleep when you’re competing for ‘Most Orgasms Given’ Award.”

Keoni’s easy going smile lit up his face, slow and sensuous. The second-born son of the current Tuisa Alpha, he was charismatic, gorgeous, and built like a tall bull. His clear green eyes stood out against the wild mess of black loose curls and bronzed skin. He was a girl’s wet dream and alpha-born on top of it. His oldest brother, and the future Tuisa Alpha, Makaii, was Ava’s mate, and while Keoni might resemble Makaii physically, they were opposite in every other manner. He was a natural ladies’ man, fun-loving and sweet. She had resisted him the night they met, since she was only focused on keeping Ava alive months ago. They had flirted, and back then, she assumed they would hook up at some point, but that was out the window the very next day. It wasn’t for his lack of trying though. However, with Ava like a sister to her, that basically made him her brother-in-law.Even if she didn’t have a mate, she had to put up boundaries.

“I’m sure I could break my record if you gave me a chance. The offer always stands, Bai. You don’t even have to ask.”

She snorted. “You literally have three women in there begging. I think you have your hands full.” She slid the headphones back onto her head, but didn’t turn the music on, hoping he would leave. Instead, he moved behind her, his presence dwarfing her. Unlike most other alpha-born male shifters, he didn’t use his aura. Didn’t let his innate alpha magic sway others to his will. He held back, loving that women were drawn to him naturally. And despite his playful words, she never felt actual pressure from him, only a feeling of safety and comfort. It was why she had been fine with Ava insisting he join her on the mating tour.
