“I know. No bus ride for me.” I blurt out.

Wes is still sitting there, hunched over, taking a sip from his bottle of Jack.

“What the fuck is going on?” Sue asks, voice dripping with concern. I can’t be bothered if it is real or fake.

“I’m going to go party.” Grabbing my things, I throw them haphazardly into a bag.

Wes looks up at that. “Party?”

“I have coke. There is boozes. I have an empty stomach. I’m going to party.” I shrug holding my bags out to Sue. “I’ll be back in my room for my sandwich in a few hours.”

“Abbey.”

“It will look good. Cover up what just happened.” I add.

“What just happened?” Wes asks questioningly.

“She threw up.”

“I didn’t make myself throw up. It just kind of happened.” I answer.

“Party. Fine. But you lost your chance on his bus.”

“Fine.”

Wes looks at me, shoulder slumped over, lips turned downwards, with eyes that look a million miles away, lost in thought, but he oozes defeat. It breaks my heart even more.

I pull out my vial and do a bump.

“Can we talk before you go party?” Wes asks.

“Nothing to talk about.”

Sue gives me a look. “I’m headed back to the hotel. I’ll have a car here by two to pick you up. Please try not to throw up again.”

I nod, and she leaves the room.

“Abbey.”

“We are over, right?”

“I…I guess that’s up to you.”

“You’re going to have your hands full. Baby. Baby mama.”

“Abbey. I love you.”

“We’ll stay friends.” I nod, fighting back tears.

He stands up and reaches out to touch me, but I take a step back. I know if he touches me, I will melt into the sensation and give up my resolve. We are over. We have to be now. Haley is pregnant. The thought nearly makes me break down.

“I’m really sorry, Abbey.”

“Are you going to get back with her?” I ask softly, afraid of the answer.

“No. Definitely not. But I’ll be there for her and my child. I have to be.” I nod. Of course, he would be. He is a great guy. He wouldn’t abandon his child. “We could still…” His voice trails off. “If you want, we could still be together. I know it’s a lot, but we could still be good together.”

I shake my head, my lip trembling. “I can’t do it. I’m not strong enough.”
